Yasmeen, interestingly, has all of the hallmarks of a classic Corrie woman. If anything, the loss of Sharif via the affair is precisely the strengthening moment that the character needs. While I loathe the constant cycle of affairs, this feels different and we're seeing some of the genuine anguish that this kind of thing causes to people across the country. It doesn't feel like the quick 'shock' that we're so used to now, especially with Corrie.

I hope that Yasmeen rises from this a much stronger character. I'd like to see her extend her influence around Weatherfield and become connected to more characters. She's actually a very refreshing character type. Educated and intelligent, with a big community focus yet fiery and headstrong at the same time. There are elements of Ena Sharples in there, along with bits of Elsie and Bet ...and even some Annie Walker ... yet Yasmeen is definitely her own character.

Great work Corrie.”

Great post. I LOVE Yasmeen and hope she stays around for a very long time.

Now Shariff and Kal are gone I think the family is strong. Yasmeen, Zee and Alya are all great characters and I hope to see them remain for a long time, with Rana and Zee happily married.

Obviously it will take time for Alya to be accepted by her family again, she may even go off the rails and become ruthless in the business with the basques. We shall see.

She already is ruthless in the business, cutting Sinead's contribution to the design of the basques and the Kebab shop uniforms but expecting her to sort out the embroidery machine and do as she (Alya) says.

Yasmeen and Zeedan are the best ones, I agree the family has got better though. I'm not a fan of Alya but she she is still a decent enough character with room for improvement. Same for Rana.

Couldn't agree more, when I saw that Sharif and Yasmeen would be broken up by an affair I was disappointed and through it was a typical lazy way to move on to another storyline but the acting has been very good and seeing a sad side to the normally strong Yasmeen has been very touching. Even though an affair was involved I think it was appropriate and added to the story.
