Some people on here seem to trash Series 4 for its overly nasty nature, but personally, it's in my top tier of the series.

The candidates were fantastic: utterly lovable people like Lucinda, Claire, Sara and Raef. Fantastic villains such as Alex, Jenny and Kevin. Token idiots such as Lindi, Nicholas and Michael. And of course, there were enough competent candidates.

There were also fantastic moments, great moments, a good amount of spontaneity, and the Series 4 boardrooms were some of the best - Alan was on fire that year.

And Marrakech was one of the best episodes of all time.

The final two episodes may have been a bit lackluster, but for the most part I found it to be gripping.

Series 4 was very eventful and very much a roller coaster ride. I loved it.

It also featured my all time favourite contestant - Lucinda.

It was also the last series to use the original firing/end credits theme, which was far superior to the over the top remixes it's had.

Series 4 had some absolutely despicable candidates, in fact yes, I would entirely agree with the sentiment of it being the most flat out unlikeable batch of candidates (with a couple exceptions).

Though it is memorable for both Raef, and of course, Marrakech.

Memorable for:

Raef's awful firing
Jenny's brilliant firing
Sexy Alex
'Say thank you to who? Allah? What for a Kosher chicken?!'
A 24-hour hotline for....laundry!

A great series. Somewhat ruined by Sugar bottling the decision-making at the interview stage and making it a 4-person final.

It was a great series, felt a bit marred by the fact sugar Kept the inept Michael in for so long, he should have been fired the same week as Jenny

Oh wow, I'd forgotten about that

The Marrakech one was brilliant, but I don't think I've actually watched it since, I must source it out. I distinctly remember Jenny and her bribery attempts

Arguably my favourite series, certainly more compelling in my view than series five and several others since. Not perhaps the nicest set of candidates overall, but as stated some likeable ones too. He didn't last long but I found Simon to be a decent man and Raef was enjoyable to watch.

I agree, one of the things I love about Series 4 is that the characters were so polarising: Lucinda, Raef and Sara were universally adored, Claire and Helene were so marmite, and Jenny, Kevin and Michael are some of the most hated villains the show has seen.

For some reason we just can't seem to invest in the candidates so much these days; this year in particular I feel ambivalent to almost all of them.

Or espionage as she bizarrely labelled it. I remember her proudly announcing it in the boardroom as though it was normal practice. Really made me cringe.

The way she treaded Lucinda was horrible so her brutal firing was all the more delicious.

LOL at the thought of Claire and Helene (coffeemaker extreme) being marmite

Claire is probably one of the most marmite candidates of all time... Although I appreciate I'm the only one who comes closing to 'loving' Helene - most hate her.

I loved the first 3 quarters or so of the series for a lot of reasons that have already been mentioned. The buying task was the best episode ever, and the show had some great candidates in the form of Raef, Sara, Lucinda and (towards the end) Claire and villains that were great to hate (Jenny C, Michael).

The final was terrible though. I still don't know why on earth Helene and Alex were there and Lee winning over Claire and of course a lot of the good candidates had already been fired
