I was in WHSmith earlier and noticed a few new 'Famous Five for Adults' books on display.

I didn't have time to look at them properly, but I was wondering if anyone else had seen them and if you'd consider buying one?

I might get one for my mum as a little extra Christmas present (and read it myself first! ).

I get the impression they aren't meant to be serious fiction stories - probably more of a satirical style.

They are midly amusing in places.

This is shocking. I think ill stick to something more wholesome. Jack black (and his dog silver.)

Enid Blyton, the inspiration for many house breakers.

Not so secret after they formed that club, and one of them went on SCD. And TBH, musically, they deserved to be overlooked.

Didn't buy one for mum in the end; the reviews suggest they're not very good. The shops are full of them though.

Sick of books like this, the ladybird ones are just as bad. They'll be "updating" the Magic Faraway Tree next. Or Noddy getting carjacked by the Golliwogs.

The character Stubby presumably had rather short, well u know what, but i can't find which book series this was, despite google. I DO remember it was at the seaside, and involved smugglers ..........

Ah, it was The Barney Mysteries, and the character was called Snubby (from his nose), which probably means the same thing, auntie enid was just being polite ........
