Using mobile for radio

I regularly use my Moto G4 to listen to the radio....but does using the inbuilt FM radio use more of the battery power than using the BBC iPlayer app?
Thanks for any feedback.

Using the FM radio would actually use less battery power.

iPlayer Radio is a battery killer on my phone so I use it sparingly, only when no other option or have timely access to recharging facility. I think TuneIn is more battery efficient but less good at holding the stream across connection glitches.

I either use my phone or tablet to listen to the radio.

Digital reception is very poor in my area and a wifi signal is the only way I can listen without interruptions. Also, the sound quality through a phone or tablet is better.

Rubbish stations on there though. Very limited choice.
