Yeah I've seen clips of Becky! i posted a clip on this thread where she's fighting with Kylie, her and Kylie were quite similar, both mouthy, etc. But Becky was very OTT!

tho they were alike in ways, Becky and Kylie looked NOTHING like each other at all IMO, i dont see even a tiny resemblance there. different hair colours too, i really doubt they could pass as sisters in real life

I think Becky's been in other things, she's a good actress

I've heard of Karen McDonald but never actually seen her in corrie. i know she's called Suranne Jones irl tho, and has been in loads of shows since. she's a good actress too

Both Karen and Becky were a little too OTT for my taste but both actresses played the parts well!!

My favourite year was 2004 it was a great year.

Looking back has anyone suffered as many dramas in 7 years as Sarah did between 2000 and 2007:

Teenage pregnancy (2000)
Daughter Bethany was kidnapped by Alison (2000)
Parents Gail and Martin split up (2000)
The Garry Adams storyline (2001)
Was in a coma after her boyfriend Aiden Critchley left her after a car crash following him joyriding Ken Barlow's car (2002)
Her stepfather Richard was a serial killer (2002-2003)
The same stepfather tried to kill her and her family by driving their car into a canal (2003)
Her daughter Bethany was electrocuted (2003)
Another pregnancy storyline (2003-2004)
Her daughter was again kidnapped this time by Bethany's Nan (Brenda) who wanted to kill her and herself by jumping off the Church roof until Emily talked Brenda down (2004)
Her boyfriend Todd cheated on her (2004)
Her son Billy died after being born prematurely (2004)
Was sent a Birthday card by David pretending it was from Richard (2006)
Her fiancee Jason jilted her at their first wedding (2006)
At her second wedding to Jason (in which they finally married) David tried to kill himself (2007)
Her daughter nearly died after taking an ecstasy pill in which David left in one of Bethany's dolls (2007)
Her wedding dress was burned by David on Bonfire Night (2007)

Me too...Karen was sublime, I never got the attraction with Becky. Just the characters I mean, Katherine Kelly is a fine actress. Steve and Karen were a magic combination.

I thought both were great. I would agree with you though in the respect that I think Karen was unspoilt when she left and remains iconic. Later on I feel they did make mistakes with Becky for example the feud with Tracy was a bit tiresome and came across trying to recreate what they did with Karen. Unfortunately they seemed to think this was a winning formula as we were then subjected to Carla Vs Tracy and god knows what next.

Speaking of Karen, I loved her exit, brilliant scenes.

She was so popular but i never liked her. and ppl used to rave about Alison Kings acting, but IMO there were/are better actors in corrie than her. She was ok, but there were still better

Jack P Shepherd, Tina O Brien, Dolly Rose Campbell, Paula Lane, Chris Gascoyne, etc. are all better actors IMO just my opinion tho

I agree with you on Carla, her character was so annoying and I'm so glad she is gone. Alison King is a good actress but the character was extremely unsympathetic. I do think its a stretch though to say that Dolly Rose Campbell is a better actress then AK, thats a bit much.

no its not. its my opinion

i never liked Carla but love Gemma and think Dolly Rose Campbell plays the role of loveable gobby chav well, she changes her tone of voice, and uses a variety of facial expressions. Alison king only ever did the same facial expression and monotone voice, or maybe it was just cos that was how Carla was as a character or something i dunno

Alison king wasn't the only actor to use the same facial expression tho. Samia ghadie only ever does a open mouth face, that's the only expression she seems to b able to do

I agree with you (on Carla). She was more like an android than a real person.

Yep, brilliant. Steve was believable too, not the stupid farcical michelle-arse-licker that's he's become.

I like Gemma and I think Dolly is ok so far but she hasn't been given any meaty material to make a comparison like that.

As for Alison King's facial expressions, she has had enough botox to last a life time which probably has a lot to do with her expressionless face.

2009 (despite how unpopular that may seem to some) was my favourite Corrie year as I loved Gray O'Brien as Tony Gordon. He was a great villain and excellent factory boss, pity he ended up being written out of the show. Hard to believe it has been seven years since his arrest.

Carla was a real bitch back then, but I loved her with Tony (although preferred him with Maria more) and her comeback story was great. Of course subsequent producers must have caught onto that so insisted on overusing her, and reducing her to a wimp in the process.

Uh.....maybe cos they're the only yrs I'M interested in, which is probably why i said that but this thread is for ANY corrie fan who has been watching it since it started, since the 60s, or the 70s, 80s, 90s, 2000s, or since the 21st century like me. I've been a regular since end of 2012

I'm 19 yrs old...why would i wanna watch it from the beginning in black and white wayyy before my time

Edit Ok actually going back on what i said about 2000s corrie, i think i probably WOULD watch early to mid 2000s corrie, cos i heard it was good early 2005, or 2004, and i actually think i remember seeing it 2004/2005 even tho i was only little, i think i must of sometimes watched it back then, cos i actually seem to remember characters like Charlie Stubbs and Katy Harris (ill have to find clips of them to jog my memory a bit more) but no earlier than that, i wouldn't watch 90s episodes or earlier, they don't interest me and i have no desire to go back to before i was born

I'M only more into 21st century corrie cos im only 19 and its the most recent period, 2010 to present is MY growing up generation (i have been watching as a REGULAR since 2012) doesn't mean its everyone else's generation tho. This thread is for anyone, no matter when they started watching

if u look at the post above, u will see that i probably would watch 2000s episodes, cos i remember watching corrie on and off in 2004/2005 cos i remember Charlie Stubbs and Katy Harris even tho i was only little when they were in it. those names just stick in my head i dunno why. i would watch clips of the noughties, just wouldn't wanna watch 90s or earlier, wouldn't even know who the 90s characters were!

My vote would go to Janice Battersby closely followed by Eddie Windass. Thought both were despicable characters without one redeeming feature.

08/09 were my favourite years too for the same reason!! That whole saga with Liam, Maria, Carla & Tony had me glued from the very start to the very end & I really couldn't wait for the next episode!!

Enjoyed all the early part of the Frank Foster stuff in 2011 in a different way, simply because he was a compellingly horrible character but after the trial it all descended into chaos & the awful Carla/Peter affair & I can't honestly say I've truly enjoyed Corrie since until the Kylie exit s/l this year, which sad as it was was brilliant viewing & in recent months I'm back to looking forward to each episode of Corrie again for the first time since 2011!!

As for worst ever Corrie characters!!

Hated Mavis, Derek & Victor which I know is controversial but just my personal taste, but probably the worst ever was Warren Baldwin, easily the most badly acted, pathetically portrayed sap ever to set foot on the Cobbles imo, though Kal Nazir & Andrea Beckett both ran him pretty close in recent years!!

What has your age got to do with it? I've watched (and still watch) many TV programmes and films made long before I was born. many of them in black and white.
