Next up BB7's Aisleyne takes a drop down the rankings and is at her lowest placing to date. She is the lowest ranked former winner of this poll and for the first time isn't BB7's Highest ranked Housemate; that is now Nikki (for the first time). Despite a drop, she did actually receive more top 10 rankings than any other HM including the winner this year, however its the lower end rankings that have gone up and had an effect. Aisleyne entered as a late comer to BB7 and whilst not an instant favourite, she seemed to grown in popularity as the show went on. She was part of the House Next Door task which saw her evict Jonathan and despite some turbulent times in the house managed to stay until the final and finished in 3rd place. She returned in BB16 during the timewarp task and whilst she did have words with Helen and Marc it was her appearance on BBOTS for the subsequent Celeb series which saw a tide turn on her after she threw a glass at grade-A bitch Farrah.”

I don't quite agree that Aisleyne was "not an instant favourite". If it wasn't absolutely instant, it was still pretty darn quick. (No later then when the used the "b" word to Sezer which was, like, on her first night.)

The main factor in Aisleyne's popularity was the dislike for the "Plastics". The dislike reached absurd heights, and it drove Aisleyne's popularity to absurd heights as well. I don't think that, looked at dispassionately, she'd have seemed a great HM. She didn't actually do anything that was all that impressive, though people can find much to intrigue them in a HM they like, because liking leads to thinking about them, and watching them, in a different way.

Over the years, and also during bb7, I've sometimes liked Aisleyne and sometimes haven't. Unfortunately, these days she seems little more than another Nicola McLean. The more interesting things about her seem submerged under that.

What do you mean "ALLEGED"? She even defended throwing it, quite odd behaviour if she hadn't actually done it. Though her defence was quite odd -- and telling, about something -- in itself, for she seemed to think that it must be ok because she'd thrown or poured water on Jamie East and BB had aired it. The odd and telling part is that she thought BB showing it meant it was acceptable.

If Jason won because of votes "just to get one over BB", then he wasn't a rightful winner.

Indeed, his popularity seemed to be caused almost entirely by such bad reasons.

23 (11) = Science (BB6) = 11757pts

Quote:
“I will never understand why Science is popular. I can't begin to tell you just how much he wound me up. He had absolutely no volume button, it was either his way or not at all and he set out to wind people up. With Derek, (as much as I didn't like Derek), he kept touching him over and over again when he was asked not to, and at one point, Orlaith snapped and screamed at him through tears to leave her alone and he said "no". People slate Orlaith for walking after he got evicted. I, on the other hand, praise her for it.”

The way you describe it there, it sounds like Science kept touching Derek at various times the whole time they were in the house and that it was to wind Derek up. Instead it was for one brief period as a (rather ill-conceived) way to show he wasn't homophobic.

Your description of what happened between Orlaith and Science is also misleading. By saying she "screamed at him through tears to leave her alone" right after talking about Science winding people up and touching Derek, it ends up sounding like he was trying to wind her up, or worse. Instead, it was an argument about towels when Science had been behaving and talking calmly and reasonably and Orlaith was the first to get loud. (There were also background issues because of things that had been said against Science.)

At the end of your description, it sounds like Orlaith stayed only until Science was evicted and then walked. That's what you seem to be praising. But she didn't leave until a week later, the day after she'd eliminated Kemal; and one of the main reasons for her leaving was Derek.

Highest Ranked BB7 HM

Kicking off this evening is BB7's Nikki who climbs to an all-time high ranking and also due to Aisleyne's drop is the highest ranked BB7 HM for the first time! Nikki had just as many top rankings as Aisleyne (from the full lists), however her rankings were most consistent than Aisleyne's this year. I think he big climbs over the last couple of years have been helped by her third appearance during BB16 whereby she went head to head with Helen (and sort of won an argument against her and stood up for herself). I think really now with Jade gone and Brian D sunk away from the BB lime-light Nikki is the most identifiable Big Brother HM. As I've said before about rewatching BB7, I don't think necessarily she was always in the right (her treatment of Sam wasn't great), but she is an excellent HM and bought a lot to the show each time she has appeared

Three years ago, Rex climbed to an all-time high ranking and runner-up behind Aisleyne in the overall rankings. However since then he has slipped out of the top 10 and sat just outside; this year climbing up to rank at number 11. This year he remains as the 2nd highest ranked BB9 HM, once more behind Rachel. Rex (IMO) was an excellent Housemate and again possibly not always nice, but he proved an intriguing HM throughout BB9 and helped to keep the series ticking over. Possibly had the girlfriend not turned up he may have won, but I think he is a HM who peaked at the beginning of the series even if the BB9 final was exceedingly close between all finalists.

I was not a fan at all of Nikki in BB7, I actually thought she added nothing of value to the house and thought her tantrums got old very, very fast. In Ultimate BB i thought she hadn't shown any maturity or growth, but I will say in BB16 I thought she came across well, and far better in comparison to Aisleyne who came across as a nutter. I primarily rate though on original appearance so hence the low rating, but even though I don't like her I get why she is in the top 12 and understand why some people find her appealing so fair enough result for me.

Sorry but i have to ask (as it seems obvious to me anyway) but did you really stop after 13 last night because of who was 12th? Can't imagine any other reason for not going to 11 - as soon as you did i knew she was 12th as you wouldnt stop there for anyone else ???

I stopped as I hadn't written up 12-1 fully.... I don't get why you would think I would stop because Nikki was at 12. And to be honest I'm getting sick of the digs, comments and insinuations; it was the same last year - it takes a lot of time to do this and you feel the need to comment everytime something doesn't go your way or you don't agree with as its just draining

Completely agree with everything you said regarding Rex Yohinn, an absolutely fantastic Housemate, funny, a bit of a stirrer, but something sweet there too, he definitely did peak though in the first half of the series and was ruined when Nicole came in, still though even with a weak ending to his time in the house, i though he was great tv and an intriguing HM and was a big contributer to series 9

Highest Ranked BB13 HM
Highest Ranked Channel 5 Housemate

So kicking off the top 10 is Deana who surges back into the top 10 to reclaim being the highest ranked Channel 5 Housemate after being over taken by Gina last year. She remains as BB13 highest ranked housemate and is still the only housemate from Channel 5 series of Big Brother to ever feature in the top 10. Deana was a bit of an unlikely finalist in the beginning; always being pretty much on the outside of events, the beginning twist possibly didn’t help. However she did have support which swelled after the comments made by Conor and his gang. I think a lot of people were surprised she only placed 3rd, however I guess in terms of support she may have peaked too early in the series to carry her through to the final win.

Highest Ranked BB9 HM

Rachel climbs a place up the rankings this year and continues to remain in the top 10 since her debut at the top 8 years ago. Rachel also remains as BB9's top ranked housemate and also remains the third highest winner. Support for Rachel on DS was strong and really on the final night it could’ve gone anyway between the top 5 HMs; Rachel however was a surprise winner as it seemed Michael had it in the bag and showed that being nice can win out in the end. For me she was an good HM and I can see why people support her, re-watching BB9 has actually helped me appreciate Rachel more and will probably revise my ranking of her upwards when I submit a vote next year. She gained 4 top rankings and ranked consistently within the top 100 of people's votes.

After reaching an all-time high last year, Sam slides down to number 8 however retains being the highest ranked BB8 housemate. For me Sam had a bit more depth than her twin and I preferred her because of that which I think it why possibly she is ranked higher. She continually gained higher rankings than Amanda and as I said in Amanda’s comments, the pair of them seemed almost in a different series compared to everyone else in BB8 as they seemed to be in their own bubble.

Victor slips back out of the top 5 and remains behind Michelle as the 2nd highest ranked BB5 Housemate after she climbed to the runner-up slot overall last year. Victor was a HM who I thought gave a lot to the success of BB5, he treated the show as a game and probably would’ve given Nadia more of a run for her money had he not had the argument with Shell which led to his eviction over Jason. He was really the first housemate to treat Big Brother as a game rather than just a social experiment. He still remains popular and his stint on Ultimate Big Brother has helped to solidify his DS popularity too.

I thought Rachel might be in with a shot at winning this year as she was in a lot of people's top 10s! Ah well maybe next time. Rachel for me was an all round lovely person and I don't know how anyone couldn't like her, she was probably one of the/if not the most genuinely nice people to appear on the show, and I thought she was lovely. Cannot understand how folks really could rank her outside their top 100, and especially their 200, given all the really horrible HMs to choose from!

Alex climbs back up the rankings this year after slipping down last year, he remains once more as the 2nd highest HHousemate from BB3, however climbs to the 2nd highest male HM climbing passed Victor. I remember being peeved when he stayed over both Alison and Spencer back in BB3 as he irritated me at the time. However I warmed to him over the series and he was a good character within the house and in hindsight probably should've stayed. Although he didn't receive a huge amount of top 10 placings from the full lists, it consistency helps propel you up the rankings and Alex (as with a few others) does very well at not receiving a barrage of low scores.
