BB1's Anna takes a further climb up the rankings to her highest position in 6 years and returns to the top 5 housemates, she also remains as the highest ranked Housemate from BB1. As a lot of the earlier HMs, it's difficult to picture a HM like Anna even going into a Channel 5 series of BB let alone be a runner up or potential winner. But it's good to see that someone from the very beginning of BB is still so highly ranked among DS. If she carries on at this rate then in 4 years time she should hit the top spit again!

Delighted for Alex!! How amazing all this time later to see him do so well, and even climb to 6 this year, what a super housemate, huge contributer to the house, and fab interactions with everyone, best looking BB male imo ever too which isn't a bad thing, but great result!

Anna was the best of those left by a long way and the only one that truely can be described as one of the best hms of all time - BB1 seems so long ago yet seems like only yesterday !

OK, so it's all change at the top this year as Kate slides down the rankings to outside the top 3. She remains as BB3's highest ranked HM, however is no longer the highest ranked winner (now Brian D), nor the highest ranked female or Channel 4 housemate. Consistency usually wins out in this poll and this year Kate did get 1 exceedingly low ranking (from the full lists anyway) which I think helped seal Kate's fate away from the top spot. I thought Kate was a good housemate and always seemed to get involved in the tasks that went on. I think it's possibly difficult to not like Kate as she just got on with thinks, was amusing and didn't bitch or was horrible to anyone. However this year it's all change and either Helen, Brian or Michelle has claimed a victory.

I think Alexandra was unusual and potentially interesting as a HM, but she was seldom pleasant viewing, and I can understand why she gets so low a ranking.

Some people thought Alexandra seemed nice on the opening night and noted such things as how she'd been with Mikey. But it didn't last, and I think she was very unsuited to life in the BB house. She was intense (which I liked), but she could become impassioned about things that didn't deserve it (as in the arguments about chips). However, I think she generally had a coherent point in her arguments, so that I could make sense of it even if I didn't agree.

She provided some memorable quotes and scenes, such as her "You'll never be ready" and "Memba I told you", and Steph's "Am I Tom or Frank?"


I agree with a lot of that about Nicole, and I don't think she was a likeable villain. But she finished way down the list (277: 14 from the very bottom). I don't think she was that bad. And while she was selfish and insensitive, I don't think she had the sort of nasty, malicious personality that the worst HMs have.

I said she made bb9 more interesting. and consider what you said about Rex, that she took away everything that was good about him. That happened because of something about Rex: it revealed something about him we might otherwise not have seen. Something about B-Block was revealed as well. They colluded on nominations to try to keep Nicole. Not all of them -- Rachel stayed out of it, and Darnell had a somewhat different agenda -- but seeing more of the dark side of B-Block made for a more interesting story.


Housemates did reach out to Shahbaz, but he was so difficult so much of the time that no one did it consistently. So George, for example, was the one HM to stay in the room one time when all the other HMs left as Shahbaz came in, but also one of the HMs who actually took Shahbaz's clothes when Shahbaz was in the pool. I think every HM gave Shahbaz a chance, or showed sympathy, or tried to help him at one point or another.

The HMs get a lot of blame for isolating Shahbaz, or trying to. For some reason, BB viewers (at least the sorts who comment in forums like this one) had started seeing isolation automatically as bullying. (It seemed to start in CBB 4 as a way to claim that Jodie Marsh had been a bully.) But in part "isolating" Shahbaz was have some respite from his behaviour. In ordinary life, you can get away from someone just by physically moving away; but they were stuck with Shahbaz in a small house.

I ranked Kate mid table, she had good qualities but I found she was a bit all about me in the love drama with Spencer and Alex, and her 'fun' drunked antics with Jonny were beyond annoying, can't believe she has falledn to 4th though! I think she deserves a good placing, but glad she has made room for another winner, as to me she is not the best HM ever

I think Anna is by far the best now that Kate's out; but no way is she more deserving than Kate. I wouldn't especially mind Michelle, Helen or Brian winning, but I don't think they deserve to.

Brian takes a further climb back up the rankings and returns to the top 3. He becomes the highest ranked winner this year overtaking Kate and also the highest ranked Male housemate, however oddly is no longer BB2's highest ranked HM as Helen has overtaken him. Brian was a bit of a force of nature back in the day and was an immediate favourite for Big Brother 2, he reached the final without facing eviction and went on to beat Helen to be the winner. Fast forward nearly a decade and Brian returned to Ultimate Big Brother where he once again reigned supreme. Oddly Brian has faired better on the rankings after he was axed as presenter from the main show; since then he has taken massive climbs back up the rankings.

Kate's obviously not the best HM ever to me, since I didn't have her top. Indeed, she wasn't even in my top 10.

But I can distinguish between my personal rankings for the HMs and rankings I think make good sense even though they don't match mine; and Kate winning this makes more sense than most others who are likely to win.

No, they are not. But at least if one of them wins, it means <long list of certain others> don't.

I do get what you mean, and agree Kate does make a fair winner in many ways, but of the HMs that make the top 10, Rachel, Alex, Brian, Helen, Rex, Anna to me they were more interesting! But I do get she should have a top 20 placing and why, and to maintain her top 5 placing is a huge achivement for me personally though, didn't enjoy her and found not only Alex who is a fave of mine, but Adele, Sunita, Sophie more likeable than her, in her series at the time but kudos to her for doing so well in this comp, and as Yohinn says its consistancy is key, which she definitely seems to have!
