02 (09) = Helen Adams (BB2) = 13099pts
Ranking History (3-1-4-4-3-1-18-12-8-9-2) Ranking Performance (+2.62%) 01-10........... 15 11-20........... 11 21-30.......... 2 31-40.......... 4 41-50.......... 2 51-60.......... 4 71-80........... 1 91-100…...... 2 101-110......... 1 121-130........ 1 151-160........ 1 201-210....... 1 241-250...... 1 Highest Ranking = 3 Lowest Ranking = 242 Highest Ranked BB2 HM Two time winner Helen surges back up the rankings and to the runner-up spot this year; she manages to overtake Brian and end up once more as the highest ranked BB2 HM, she is also the highest ranked runner-up. Helen was a great HM, always willing to have a laugh and gave some fantastic one liners. I remember being a Brian fan at the time but I did like Helen too and she provided some good entertainment throughout series 2, it's hard to imagine a character like Helen or indeed the majority of early BB HMs in the heavily manipulated Channel 5 series, which is possibly why Channel 5 housemates are a rarity in the top 10. |

01 (02) = Michelle Bass (BB5) = 13350pts
Ranking History (10-31-13-20-11-10-12-8-5-2-1) Ranking Performance (+0.40%) 01-10.......... 15 11-20.......... 9 21-30......... 8 31-40......... 2 41-50......... 2 51-60......... 2 61-70.......... 1 71-80.......... 3 91-100…..... 2 151-160....... 1 191-200...... 1 Top Rankings = 3 Lowest Ranking = 194 Highest Ranked BB5 HM Highest Ranked Channel 4 HM Highest Ranked HM (Overall) Which means this years winner and DS' All-Time Favourite Housemate 2016 is Michelle Bass!!! She climbed to an all-time high last year to the runner-up slot, however this year does one better by clinching the winners spot. As you can see from the full votes breakdown, she received barely any sub-100 votes and was extremely consistent in high end rankings; even gaining 3 top rankings. Michelle was in the winning position from pretty much the early part of the vote and despite challenges from Helen, Brian and Kate she ends up near 200 points clear of 2nd place. Michelle was such a strong HM and really drove a lot of the goings on/ storylines of Series 5. Including the bedsit twist, fight night, the judad kiss twist and also the under the table nooky with Chicken Stu. However despite being popular post bedsit twist, she gained a bunny boiler tag which ultimately saw her evicted 1 week before the final. Michelle was a great HM and I think it's great that we have a brand new winner this year who has beat out the usual suspects at the top. So once again DS' all-time favourite HM of 2016 is MICHELLE BASS!!!!!!!! Will she hang on next year, will we get a climber or maybe a brand new entry from Big Brother 18 at the top? all will be revealed next year. Many thanks to all the voters, comments and hefty amount of suggestions for next year

Rachel - one of the nicest hm of all time - cant recall her ever bad mouthing anyone, the most deserved winner of the last few years of BB on 4
Sam - now i did like her but even i would never claim she was the 8th best hm ever - truely bizaare result that?? Vic and Alex on the otherhand need no introduction, the fact they are still as popular now over a decade since they appeared on BB is fully understandable I suppose I wouldn't claim Sam was the 8th best HM ever (since I had her 16th); but would (and did) rate her above Victor and Alex. |

Wow i actually guessed right !!!!!!!!!!!!
![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Well done to Michelle, have to say i agree with you Op, that nice that it is someone other then one of the usual suspects that won this time! She was certainly one of the more memorable hms thats for sure, though if any of next years hms want to have any chance of emulating her - one thing they really dont want to do is anything under the table ! ![]() ![]() Bad luck to Helen another genuinely nice hm but i am sure she doesnt mind not finding out what it is like to live like an international rock star! |

02 (09) = Helen Adams (BB2) = 13099pts
Ranking History (3-1-4-4-3-1-18-12-8-9-2) Ranking Performance (+2.62%) Highest Ranking = 3 ---------------------- me! Lowest Ranking = 242 Highest Ranked BB2 HM Two time winner Helen surges back up the rankings and to the runner-up spot this year; she manages to overtake Brian and end up once more as the highest ranked BB2 HM, she is also the highest ranked runner-up. I had Michelle @ 74, Michelle was definitely a great HM, and provided fantastic tv, there were just times when i found the obession with Stu grating, and it just felt a bit boring after a while. Still though could be a lot worse winners so congrats to her! HUGE THANKS Yohinn for an amazing results reveal, the amount of work you put into this is phenomenal so thank you so much for continuing to do this, and do it so well

Biggest Climbers
1 = Gerry Stergiopoulos (BB8) [+18.11%] 2 = John James Parton (BB11) [+16.54%] 3 = Sam Evans (BB14) [+11.55%] 4 = Mario Mugan (BB11) [+10.94%] 5 = Sara McLean (BB13) [+10.92%] 6 = Saskia Horward-Clarke (BB6) [+10.85%] 7 = Jade Goody (BB3) [+9.52%] 8 = Jason Cowan (BB5) [+9.46%] 9 = Cristian MJC (BB16) [+9.36%] 10 =Ife Kuku (BB11) [+9.13%] So the two biggest climbers this year by quite some way are Gerry and John James; both surging back up the rankings. BB11 this year features quite heavily on the climbers list this year ; oddly last year that series featured most heavily on the fallers. Last year only 1 Channel 5 HM managed to appear on the biggest gainers list; this year 3 feature including 1 from Series 16 as Cristian takes a big climb which is unusual as most Housemates drop in their second year. Biggest Fallers 1 = Caroline Wharram (BB13) [-19.50%] 2 = Jack McDermott (BB16) [-17.72%] 3 = Joe Glenny (BB14) [-15.39%] 4 = Michael Hughes (BB9) [-13.11%] 5 = Ahmed Aghil (BB5) [-11.85%] 6 = Sam Hueston (BB6) [-11.00%] 7 = Ziggy Lichman (BB8) [10.79%] 8 = Harry Amelia Martin (BB16) [-10.32%] 9 = Kara-Louise Horne (BB8) [-10.06%] 10 = Danielle McMahon (BB15) [-9.52%] Some big drops here for some Channel 5 series Housemates with Caroline taking a massive drop this year; unlike previous years where she has taken some big climbs. Michael takes a big fall this year too and last year actually topped the Biggest Climbers rankings; so has really reversed any good work he had done last year. Kara-Louise also featured on the biggest climbers list last year, this year she drops back down this year by coming in 10th on the biggest fallers. I'll post series stats stuff later in the week

I do get what you mean, and agree Kate does make a fair winner in many ways, but of the HMs that make the top 10, Rachel, Alex, Brian, Helen, Rex, Anna to me they were more interesting! But I do get she should have a top 20 placing and why, and to maintain her top 5 placing is a huge achivement for me personally though, didn't enjoy her and found not only Alex who is a fave of mine, but Adele, Sunita, Sophie more likeable than her, in her series at the time but kudos to her for doing so well in this comp, and as Yohinn says its consistancy is key, which she definitely seems to have!
I think Rex and Anna were more interesting than Kate, but they also failed to win, and winning should count for something. Brian and Rachel won, but I think they (in different ways) had it too easy. Brian never even faced an eviction vote. He wasn't sufficiently tested, imo, and didn't experience enough of the full range of BB experiences. (How would he have reacted if he'd faced the vote, for example?) Rachel was tested. I raised my opinion of her after seeing Luke A win without being tested as much and without doing as much against the house baddies. But I still think she didn't fully engage with the BB experience. Her pained reluctance with opinions was part of that, as was child-mode time with Kat, the Mikey-Wikeying, etc. |

Sure, she had the points, but I don't think she is the best of all time, or the one it makes the most sense to have as the winner. I don't think she was exceptionally good or interesting as a HM. Indeed, I think she's over-rated and always has been. She shouldn't even be the top HM from BB5! I don't think it's outrageous that she won, but it's not a very satisfying result either. |

Thanks YT, I'm a bit late due to domestic tediousness. Delighted to see that Rachel's gone up one spot.
(If it's not too much trouble, did I have a mistake in my list? It should have been full but I can't see that it's been included in the stats.) |

11 (12) = Rex Newmark (BB9) ...
Three years ago, Rex climbed to an all-time high ranking and runner-up behind Aisleyne in the overall rankings. However since then he has slipped out of the top 10 and sat just outside; this year climbing up to rank at number 11. This year he remains as the 2nd highest ranked BB9 HM, once more behind Rachel. Rex (IMO) was an excellent Housemate and again possibly not always nice, but he proved an intriguing HM throughout BB9 and helped to keep the series ticking over. Possibly had the girlfriend not turned up he may have won, but I think he is a HM who peaked at the beginning of the series even if the BB9 final was exceedingly close between all finalists. I agree he might have won if not for Nicole coming in, but he also could have won if he'd handled Nicole's presence better. In the end, faced by what he actually faced, his character or personality lacked some strengths he'd have needed to win. Put another way, some flaws were revealed that might otherwise have gone undetected; and it's at least arguable that it's right that he was found out and lost. Similarly, Kat and Darnell were also strong HMs who might have won but were undone by flaws. Rachel, either just naturally, or with the mental strength that many of her supporters believe she has, avoided doing anything that would cost her too much support. |

Many thanks, yohinnchild!
![]() I've been following along though not well placed to comment. I have some catching up to do. Michelle wasn't by any means my pick, but for a winner in 2016 we've been let off lightly.

Nikki is THE greatest ever hm in the history of BB!
(well imo anyway!) For this to work, Nikki's unpleasantness (for there was some!) can't be so frequent or so great as to outweigh everything else; and I think it wasn't. Quote:
I was not a fan at all of Nikki in BB7, I actually thought she added nothing of value to the house and thought her tantrums got old very, very fast. In Ultimate BB i thought she hadn't shown any maturity or growth, but I will say in BB16 I thought she came across well, and far better in comparison to Aisleyne who came across as a nutter. I primarily rate though on original appearance so hence the low rating, but even though I don't like her I get why she is in the top 12 and understand why some people find her appealing so fair enough result for me.

Thanks for doing this again. It's always fun.
Nice to have a new winner and it's the first time my number 1 has won which is exciting. Pardon me while I have a little gush about Michelle. Unlike MANY other housemates, my appreciation for Michelle has grown since she was on the show. She's always been in my top 20, but she's gradually become the housemate I'm most entertained and intrigued by. She encompasses all the kind of traits I want in a housemate, both positive and negative. I liked watching her blossom in the house and her antics all felt totally raw and spur of the moment, I doubt even she could recreate it even if she wanted to. She gave it her all and didn't hold back, plus her social interactions with the other housemates improved immensely after a relatively quiet start. Since Nadia was my number 2, I was extremely happy with her win. But while Nadia's story felt like a gradual progression towards an increasingly likely victory, Michelle's was an up-and-down rollercoaster that made me feel a whole bunch of different emotions. I go between thinking 'that is the best BB experience a housemate has ever had' to 'well okay, maybe it would have been better if she didn't do a few of the slightly cringeworthy things she did'. But without the flaws I don't think she'd have been as fascinating as she came across. |

09 (10) = Rachel Rice (BB9) = 12569pts
Rachel climbs a place up the rankings this year and continues to remain in the top 10 since her debut at the top 8 years ago. Rachel also remains as BB9's top ranked housemate and also remains the third highest winner. Support for Rachel on DS was strong and really on the final night it could’ve gone anyway between the top 5 HMs; Rachel however was a surprise winner as it seemed Michael had it in the bag and showed that being nice can win out in the end. For me she was an good HM and I can see why people support her, re-watching BB9 has actually helped me appreciate Rachel more and will probably revise my ranking of her upwards when I submit a vote next year. She gained 4 top rankings and ranked consistently within the top 100 of people's votes. And I like the bit in bold! ![]() Quote:
I thought Rachel might be in with a shot at winning this year as she was in a lot of people's top 10s! Ah well maybe next time. Rachel for me was an all round lovely person and I don't know how anyone couldn't like her, she was probably one of the/if not the most genuinely nice people to appear on the show, and I thought she was lovely. Cannot understand how folks really could rank her outside their top 100, and especially their 200, given all the really horrible HMs to choose from!

The reason they switched it to VTS that week was because it was at the peak of the Bea/Freddie fall-out and didn't want to risk Bea leaving. I get why they did it. Bea would have been toast otherwise.
... I don't think it's clear that the aim was to keep Bea in, and the most common view in the past has been that it was to protect Lisa. |
