I think a performance has to appeal on many levels to inspire people to vote. Technically the dance was good but it didn't grab me on an emotional level. It has nothing to do with liking or not liking Louise.

Exactly what I feel - I love AT but I did not feel emotional about it as I have with others.

And it was so fast too! I don't think I've ever seen such a fast AT on Strictly, with so many quick changes of movement and position.
Well done to Louise and Kevin. Best dance of the series so far imo. It's the only one this series that I've watched again.

Spoken like a true dance expert - not. If it is so easy why are so many, professionals and Celebs so crap at it.

Louise was very wobbly - her feet were terrible - the choreo was full of pauses - not much dancing to judge. The AT is first and foremost a DANCE not a bloody pose fest.

This was another testament to Kevin's ability to get the best out of a partner.
Despite all the grief he gets on here, he's good at it.
It makes me smile the amount of grief the "Clifton Clan" get on here.
Some won't accept that they are good at their jobs, which is in the terms of Strictly, is presenting their partners well.
The BBC like them, the public like them, I like them and they are here to stay.

So the knockers should get over it.

Their dance tonight, was by far the best.

Yes it flipping is.
That wasn't a dance, it bore no relation to the music playing in the background, mind you I doubt anyone could do a proper AT to that. It's too fast.

So given a dance is movement set to music, how was that series of movements a dance?

Some looked good, some looked shaky.

There was a distinct absence of the mainstay of an AT dance, the walk, smoothly caressing the floor.

It could have been an excercise class with a series of movements.

What it wasn't was a dance more specifically an AT.

But in terms of "Strictly" it's what counts.
It's an entertainment show for cryin' out loud, what's the point of nit-picking it?

But a lot of dances on strictly are not exactly what the should be , Have not seen a 'proper' salsa on any series (ramps included) rumba is another and many do VW with breaks and extra steps.

As I have had to learn over the years have to switch off my teaching eyes and take it as a show loosely based on dance.

The AT from Louise and Kev for me had the flavour of the dance and (besides vincent and flav we hardly see authentic on the show ) I enjoyed it for what it was

Whilst Danny did a great dance last night it had more swing in it than authentic latin jive but that did not for me take away it was a good dance

The Not an Appreciation Thread might as well be called the Clifton Knockers Club.

I thought it was quite good, but on a similar level to her Rumba.

I really like Louise but find her really boring. A friend of a friend taught her and always said she was lovely, well behaved and never got into trouble.

I don't find her boring and she does seem lovely - I just don't find her exciting in much the same way as Rachel Stevens in her series

Yes, I get that. Although I find Louise lovely (even if not exciting) whereas I found Rachel too princessy, wasn't keen on her at all.

Personally, I loved Louise and Kevins AT and am fed up of the Clifton bashing for bashing sake. It's boring.

Not at all; it is an equal opportunity knocking thread, we knock lots of other people as well. As you know, since you have posted there

I thought it was a brilliant dance - I voted for her for the first time last night. Up until now she's been a bit meh for me (middling), but that AT was fantastic! Well done to Louise and Kevin.

But the Clifton's get it more then others, be honest.

I post in a lot of threads doesn't change my view about the Cliftons.

Jo gets it more than Kevin IMO and so does Ore.

If you think the Cliftons get knocked, you should have seen this forum in the Snowdon year or any year in which James Jordan danced. You like the Cliftons, so that's great for you, you get enjoyment from watching them. A lot of us don't. That's life. And at the moment they are more annoying *to some people* than other people in the show.

I don't care for negativity about any of the pros or celebs on the basis of personality.
To me it's irrelevant. It's all about the enjoyment or lack of it I get from each routine each week.
All the pro or celebrity bashing is rather childish and petty imo. Whether I like someone or not will not determine how I vote. I have voted for people to win finals who I don't like and done so on merit. By the same token I have refused to vote for people I do like unless they happen to deserve it on dance merit. My approach will not change.

Its not that I am objecting to the flashy lifts which couldn't ever be done in an authentic AT nor am I Clifton bashing because I don't think the pros have much choreography input in an AT.

For me it even failed to be a dance, any dance.
Nothing on the floor bore any relationship to the music ( but I doubt anything could that music was ridiculously fast )

Also the series of movements were just that, a series of movements, fast, bearing little relationship to one another and linked by nothing, certainly NOT any AT walks, which are the very basic step you would expect to be in there.

Some movement Loiuse did very well, some she was wobbly or they were sticky.

Whatever it could have been an excercise class because it flowed just as well as one of those and no one claims they are a dance.

As for performance, you couldn't see her face, certainly there was no story to it for it to be acted.

I dont take your comments as Clifton bashing, AT, Salsa and Charleston are pretty much in the hands of outside choreographers. Whilst I respect your views as you see them didn't see the dance that way at all, and whilst I do like the Cliftons I don't think Im seeing it with rose tinted glasses - truly believe we do not on the whole see authentic AT's on the show and as I said it gave the flavour of the dance to me.

Would be pretty boring if we all liked the same thing and the non appreciation thread would not be such fun reading

It is just the nature of things, celeb or pro bashing goes on every series since season 1 and in other shows (x factor, im a celeb etc ) it happens too - just the nature of the game.

Have two relatives in soaps would dread either being on the show, one hopefully is too old (though Lesley brings that into doubt) and the other is so busy hopefully it will not fit but she has been approached
