I agree. They started the series giving far too high scores. In my opinion, a 10 should only be given for absolute perfection, otherwise it is completely devalued. How they can pick up faults and then still give 10's? I used to like it when 8's and 9's were acknowledged as a damn good score and only if they were able to address every little nuance did they get a 10 (perhaps in the final).
Maybe scores should be split into performance/technical execution like they do in Gymnastics/diving etc and maybe even be weighted based on difficulty/dance content/previous experience?
Ok, I realise that is probably far too complicated for a 'light entertainment show', but the judges scoring does get on 'my wick'.
