That is my worry - I would hate to lose Daisy, Louise, Danny or Claudia over Ed. As another poster said, it is time to get serious and sorry Ed, you are making progress and your routines are entertaining, but better dancers need to stay.

I don't know. What time was his taxi booked for?

I think Ed will leave during Blackpool week.

There is a thing called momentum, which Ed unlike many of the other contestants now has, which if maintained could easily propel him to the finals, and once there, who knows what the result might be.

BIB. Why? Isn't this an entertainment programme as well as a dancing competition? Ed is actually providing a huge amount of entertainment, as well as doing his best in the dancing and improving. I think he is what SCD should be about more than it is.

It would be little short of an outrage if Ed was evicted while thoroughly more unappealing characters remained.

Agree!! And I am tired of the semi-pro dance schoolers and ex girl banders who hog the show . Of course they can dance better from the start! Like comparing Messi with a Rochdale footballer.
Anyway, IF ed balls goes, who do the guns turn on next? Greg? JR? Claudia? Beware, the zelots are coming for you next.

Exactly , the public appear to like him so, while they still vote for him he will stay. No one good has gone yet. He provides more entertainment than some still left in.

I'd be happy for Ed to leave any time soon but I must admit there is a dark part of me that would relish him beating Widdy's finishing position.

They are not unappealing, except to the few who think SCD should comprise nothing but the outrageous ,the hopeless triers or the just plain comedy turns....and ,hopefully they are the minority.

Ed balls and JR have been called 'idiots' on here, presumably because they are not previously dance-trained to the hilt as with some of the others. To say these celebs (or others) are unappealing seems very mild in comparison.
SCD simply would not work if there were 15 celebrity semi-pros. You might as well go back to 'Come Dancing'...see how many viewers that gets.....

She finally got the boot one week short of the quarter-final. I know bloody depressing isn't it.

Technically Gavin Henson managed to wing it a week longer but at least he did some entertaining dancers and gave us some fan service during Halloweon.

I didn't mind Chris Hollins actually supported him. It wasn't a strong year and my favourite contestant retired hurt and buggered her althetics career on the process that's even more depressing.

I was very disappointed that Jade had to leave and more so when I found out the injury she sustained put an end to her career and Olympic hopes. I thought she was doing well and had a good chance of reaching the final, another "journeyman", so to speak.

Anyway, that is off topic really. I'll leave you folks to continue, fascinating and illuminating stuff.

You can add me to a list of sad and disappointed Jade Johnson fans. Sad and disappointed she has to quit Strictly. Even worse that it affected her athletic career

As to Ed, well he's marvellous!

It all depends on how people decide to view SCD.
Is it a dance competition?
Is it light entertainment?
Is personality as important as the dancing?
Are there other factors that lure people to support certain celebs/couples.
Is it a combination of one or more of the above and if so which consideration is the prevailing one?

Maybe if someone sells themselves as the 'Anti establishment dancer' it may win loads of votes

A bit like movies. We all have a favourite film for our own reasons. I may hate your choice; you may hate mine.

The voting page on the BBC website says to vote for "your favourite", which covers a multitude of reasons.

The guns are already trained on Greg - some want him out first.
