How come every week, Emily has a ballad? even if the song was originally uptempo, it's always reworked into a ballad and it's become boring now. Can't she do uptempo?

The whole show has been a snooze fest, but then I knew it would be like that.

She's so dull - the slowing down of the songs thing is so cliche

To be fair, 'Creep' was fab.

Matt cannot catch her regardless what songs or how she sings. That's the way it is looking for me.

Emily is one of many acts this year that's come into the lives as one thing, and then being changed into something entirely different.

Emily imo is a Folk singer, that could probably put her hand to some Country songs, this weird Pop ballad thing that they've got going for her is very strange imo and it won't work for her in the real world.

She's a niche singer and herself and the show need to embrace that, and I don't mean give her another Rock song either like they did last week, they instead should be being given to a girl called Samantha who again has been Popped up to the high heavens.

They did this to another young female singer a couple of seasons ago didn't they? I can't remember who it was, but everything she sang was a slowed down pop song. Was it the season Andrea was in?

There's been a few of this "type" of female contestant - Abi Alton, Janet Devlin, Lauren Platt, etc..

I don't really mind that. Most acts I like have one particular style. I'm not sure Kurt Cobain would have appealed more to me if he sang competently in a number of genres!

She does what she does and I think she does it fairly well. I certainly prefer her style than the Whitney/Celine Dion type warblers or the pop-y key change merchants. Probably why I'm very late getting in to x factor.

Tonight was absolutely dreadful. Slowing such a basic pop song into a slow tuneless piece of dirge was a stupid move. Sing a slow song if you want to sing a slow song. Don't ruin an upbeat pop song. This trend is so irritating on TXF. I hope she's in the bottom two this week.

She can do uptempo as we saw at six chairs in 2014.

Just blame the braindead public who's knowledge of music doesn't extend beyond the John Lewis adverts...

To be fair I've liked some performances over the years that have been John Lewis style performances on this show.

However what's hurting Emily in my eyes is she's not doing it very well, so no wonder people that have issue with this type of sound in the first place are having issues with Emily, I really can't blame people like yourself for that, however not all of these acts have been quite as dull at it as Emily has been.

I agree. She's a one trick pony. Does the same thing every week to an uptempo song and it's predictable and dull.

I think the slowed down songs are very suited to her, sure, yes she has done a similiar style each week so far but at least she is easy on our ears. I think she is Matt's closest rival and from what I have seen is a better singer and performer than him, with a much better recording voice. She does not strike me as much of a dancer, but she is a very decent singer in comparison to the rest of the contestants this series. She has been the best over the last two weeks and I am sure she will mix it up a bit soon. They need to give her the guitar back and let her do a catchy up tempo song.

Why give someone a song as bouncy as What Makes You Beautiful only to slow it to a crawl? What's the point of that! I'm sure One Direction have slower tunes if the show were determined for her to do one of their hits.

I really liked her version of Creep from Halloween week but in general find her pretty dull and limited.

I've been saying Emily is boring since week 3.

When I heard she was singing How Will I Know in week 3 I knew she would slow it down. Then again tonight she was given an uptempo song and she turned into another boring ballad. She needs to switch it up, even she has said on Xtra Factor about singing an uptempo but they don't seem to want to let her.

I get her vocals are extremely limited it was proven tonight when she went for the high note and didn't get it to where she needed it to go. Which then means her performances don't go anywhere they are all one level.

Hopefully the theme next week is Disco and she can finally do an uptempo (that's if they don't change the arrangement and slow a disco song down aswell)

In my view give Emily her guitar back!. The producers/Cowell are trying to turn her into something in which isn't her!

drives me mad when a contestant (aka the show) just copy a live lounge cover of a song and then claim it as their own. this week it was the 1975's cover of what makes you beautiful.
