I was rewatching Danny's dance tonight and I realised how different he and jay are as dancers, and that if they could merge into one dancer they would be unstoppable. Jay more and more seems to me to be the most naturally gifted male celeb strictly has ever had. He felt the music when he danced and had such a natural fluidity to his movements. While Danny (as demonstrated by the jive tonight isn't ibrhibk as technically capable necessarily (certainly not in the jive) but he has a level of showmanship in particular and charisma and confidence (and work ethic) that make him a joy to watch.

Anyway just wanted to share my thoughts on these two talented dancers.

Love Jay but I think that Danny is a far better dancer than he ever was. IF we compare both jives Jay had far more better technique, Ore maybe also but OVERALL I think that Danny is a much better dancer. I still don't think Jay was good as he could have been especially given the fact that he had experience like Danny.

Yes, they both have had the same experience - ie 3 years at a performing arts college and then no dancing from then on until Strictly! Of course it is a few years longer away from college for Danny as he is older than Jay!

I love them both, my two favourite celebrities since I started watching the series.

After Jay's amazing dances last year I thought that this year would be an anti climax, but I am loving Danny just as much.

They do share one similarity, they both seem to be genuinely nice, down to earth, hard working, ego free guys.

Danny is comfortably the best male celebrity they've had on Strictly in my opinion. What a dancer.

I love Danny. I think he's a brilliant dancer and I hope he wins, but I wasn't impressed by his Jive. I thought it was his second worst dance after last week's.
For most of it he barely lifted his feet off the floor. And it didn't come anywhere close to comparing with Jay's Jive.

I agree. Jay, just in my opinion, was a one dance champion. His ballroom was very weak and if anything having the jive so early just made it seem he got worse rather than better. But he did have a natural grace and won anyway Danny is good at both Latin and Ballroom, he may be a "ringer" but always enjoy his dances, even when he goes wrong.

Danny is way better then Jay because he can dance both ballroom and latin to a high standard. Jay had some very good latin apart from his Jive. But had ballroom mishaps

I am not particularly a fan of either because of the double standards between male and female "ringers" such as Natalie and DVO.

Yep, I'd agree with all of this. One of the more memorable male dancers in ballroom was Harry Judd.

I enjoy having a mix of dance abilities and potential on it - and if the ringers make me sit up and want to watch I will vote. This series, Danny has delivered that for me in spades.

He had two mishaps in the ballroom - the quickstep where he was out of time and a little slip in the foxtrot. His tango was superb and he redeemed his QS in the final.

Anyway, Jay is now starring in a new musical which has received standing ovations and great comments on Twitter.

They are both excellent. I prefer Jay as I felt he was more expressive.

Jay only had mishaps in two dances so Danny having had a mishap in Foxtrot has plenty of time to catch up. 😜

Tbh they are both great dancers in diff ways like OP said and it is just down to personal preference which you prefer.

Danny is better in BR but Jay is better in Latin imo

I think Danny is the more rounded dancer. And I prefer his hair.

I love Danny's dancing and think he's probably the best dancer there's ever been on Strictly. Jay was good, too, but I agreed with the judges that he wasn't even the best dancer in his own final.

Nothing to do with the fact they are young males?

Jay's jive was by a very long way his best dance. It was a brilliant routine to fantastic music and he executed it pretty well. Given the same routine to the same music, I think Danny would have done it even better.

Can't agree with you. Danny is a great dancer as is Jay but with the jive Jay's footwork was amazing. His kicks and flicks were prefect and that's one reason he should have been awarded 10 across the board. His feet were fluid and sharp always pointing down. All the judges, even though they usually tried to find something wrong with Jays dancing, had to all agree that he had beautiful feet and arms in every dance but his feet were especially so in the jive. Danny said last night how hard it was to get that aspect of the dance right, and he didn't quite achieve it. Ore's feet were much worse than either Danny's or Jay's but of course the judges, except Craig, followed the PTB's party line and gave him undeserved 10's. His jive was no way as good as Jay's.

Danny is a far better performer and a good dancer. I never understood the obsession with Jay. One great dance and then quite often so so. Last year was an odd year.

How can you say Danny has had no dancing experience when he performed in Wicked? If you've seen the show, then you'll realise there is definitely dancing involved for the ensemble cast - there's even a Ball scene in it. Dancing 8 shows a week is definitely an experienced dancer above and beyond what Jay brought to Strictly. (And I say this as someone who doesn't like either but the days of inexperienced male celebs performing and winning are long gone.)

I haven't seen Wicked but have been told that there isn't much dancing in it. Not like 42nd Street for instance!

OK, I'll allow I assumed he hadn't danced much, but it was five years ago apparently!

People need to understand it wasn't just about that jive though. His personality, humility and likeability counted just as much with viewers, which is why he won of course.

Danny is a wonderful dancer, and probably going to win, but a different guy to Jay entirely.

Jay was good, Danny is amazing - He dances like a pro, and looks like one too.

I don't think it's even close, however if were talking about support from the public, that is another story.

Even so, I can't see past a Danny win this year.

Personality?🤔 It seemed to me that there was a vacuum which enabled folks to project onto Jay whatever THEY believed / wanted him to be. That vacuum did overall impact the performance element of his dancing.

I still can't warm to Danny and I don't know why. I don't watch Emmerdale, but I'd never heard of Jay before SCD either. Danny is a good dancer, too good in a way. That jump over Oti's head seemed [i]too[/I ]professional if that makes sense but I don't want to get into previous experience because I know they both had some training. I was drawn to Jay almost instantly but Danny leaves me cold.

There's lots of dancing in Wicked. There's several big numbers, including partner work, lifts etc. The ensemble need to be very strong dancers.
