TalkTalk Youview Box Lights
I have just received a TalkTalk Youview box as part of a retention deal. One thing that's puzzles me is the front panel lights. One seems to indicate if the equipment is on or off but what do the others show?
Many thanks for any advice given. |

It's a while since I used mine, but if I remember correctly, they flicker when it is recording.

Many thanks for any advice given. I would prefer it if the red light showed for standby, & the blue light showed when the box was on, rather than the violet light going dim & bright. I have seen many DN370T/DN372T boxes with worn out violet LED lights. Some of them are barely visible. |

The lights come on in sequence blue/violet/red when you record. They do the same when the box is first connected to the mains & switched on.

My violet LED no longer shows. Know idea why.
The driver circuit for the LEDs is supplying too much current. I opened one up & changed the surface mount LED. The old dim one was showing signs of overheating with a brown discolouration. The only problem with repairing the LED is that you have to destroy the warranty seal to open the box. |

A later variant of the DN372T has improved LED brightness.

On my box, the middle light of the three was barely visible from new, I don't think LEDs wear out, just a bad design.
LEDs do wear out over time. The more overdriven (& hotter) they are, the quicker they fail. The one I changed was badly discoloured. It worked perfectly when the LED was changed. |
