Raymond Briggs 'Ethel and Ernest' to be shown on BBC this Christmas?
I was surprised to read this, but it does indeed have a limited cinema release. I associated this kind of film for TV anyway, just wondered if anyone knew any more. According to this (even though it's dated wrong, it's a rough estimate) it will be shown at Christmas. Quote:

Weird scheduling and does it need to be 90 minutes? Potter looks set to capture the eyeballs as this isn't any real competition.

Not usually a fan of animated films. But reading the description of this in the TV guide that it spans life in Britain from the 1920's through to the 1960's, I decided I thought I'd give this a go. Pretty good so far.

It's incredibly boring so far.
It's lovely to look at and I'm sure animation fans (I'm one) are lapping it up but how does this justify 90 minutes of primetime? |

Briggs not really selling it as the start by saying their lives weren't full of incident and excitement. How many tuned out at that point?!

I'm enjoying it. And for some reason the neighbour's cat who lives with us half the time is enthralled by it, he won't take his eyes off it.

Ernest's views are balanced by Ethel's the other way.
Subtle, yes, but tiresome. |

Thoroughly enjoyed every minute of this, so sweet, fun, elegant and heartbreakingly sad. Beautifully made, love the art style and a perfect chill out and relax type of show.

Except she's cast as the moaning one, and Ernest the positive one.
