I was surprised to read this, but it does indeed have a limited cinema release. I associated this kind of film for TV anyway, just wondered if anyone knew any more.

According to this (even though it's dated wrong, it's a rough estimate) it will be shown at Christmas.

Ethel & Ernest by Raymond Briggs to be shown this Christmas on BBC

Any one know for sure?

Me too. It looks brilliant. I really love Raymond Briggs books and all the adaptions that have been done of his work.

Weird scheduling and does it need to be 90 minutes? Potter looks set to capture the eyeballs as this isn't any real competition.

It's incredibly boring so far.

Not usually a fan of animated films. But reading the description of this in the TV guide that it spans life in Britain from the 1920's through to the 1960's, I decided I thought I'd give this a go. Pretty good so far.

Briggs not really selling it as the start by saying their lives weren't full of incident and excitement. How many tuned out at that point?!

It's lovely to look at and I'm sure animation fans (I'm one) are lapping it up but how does this justify 90 minutes of primetime?

It's a strange concept and I'm not sure why or how it ever got into production?

Like you say it's a Sunday afternoon kind of thing not prime time tv.

I'm enjoying it. And for some reason the neighbour's cat who lives with us half the time is enthralled by it, he won't take his eyes off it.

Ernest's views are balanced by Ethel's the other way.

Except she's cast as the moaning one, and Ernest the positive one.

Subtle, yes, but tiresome.

Thoroughly enjoyed every minute of this, so sweet, fun, elegant and heartbreakingly sad. Beautifully made, love the art style and a perfect chill out and relax type of show.

This was a wonderful, gentle story, and very poignant, I really feel sadness for anyone trying to make anything political out of it. Really sad.

Agree, rather understated in a very busy world, but beautiful.

That's bizarre, one of my cats was the same too. No idea what it was that attracted his attention so much.
