I agree. I really don't like that foghorn effect that she regularly does with her voice. It almost sounds like a 'donkey's eeyore' I thought that last night's performance was really naff and I haven't heard a decent performance from her since the judges houses

I think you're spot on with the donkey sound.

It's bad vocal. She's been out of tune in every single live performance so far. And I doubt she can actually hear it either, otherwise she'd have done something about it by now.

She really is tuneless. I wouldn't class her as a good singer at all she rarely stays in key or in tune - I can't bare her new rocky voice she needs to go back to how she was

TEOTH is a soft rock power ballad. It's made for a rock voice. It's a Jim Steinman song. Sure it's cheesy and 80s and theatrical, but it still has it's basis in rock rather than pop. It should be filed next to Alone by Heart for iconic bombastic 80s rock ballads.

And I have no idea how you think Fleetwood Mac are any more rocky than Chrissie Hynde/Pretenders. They're both over on the softer side of the rock spectrum.

If you're saying she should be doing hard rock then fair enough, that may suit her more. But ultimately I just don't think, whatever she sings, she's going to be very good.

I liked her pre live show. But since then she's been awful and she sing every song the exact same way with only 1 tone.

Yes 'nothing else matters' would be a good song for her to sing.

Exactly, given the right rock songs we would hear more of the huskyness in her voice that Sharon had rightly pointed out. I think for a 17 year old Sam has great potential, just a shame she's not being guided well by Simon!

I'd like to see her do Black Velvet for 80s week

I think a Rock act having no Rock songs to sing is always gonna strain her vocal.

I know some people on here love to be uber critical of Rock acts on this show, but they are like other types of singers on the show where they need to sing in their own style to prove themselves, and I don't mean Whole Lotta Love either.

And imo she made stuff like Hello sound credible, that takes talent, something which nobody else in this series has displayed without turning it into a Funeral number.

Tuneless, flat, shouty with an awful tone. What some people see in her is a mystery.

Sadly Darcyprincess I reckon when she does get a Rock song it'll either be Queen, U2, or Whole Lotta Love by Led Zeppelin as they're the usual suspects for the Rock acts on this show.

Sam had such a bitter, bad-tempered expression on her face when she was waiting for the result of the live vote. The others were smiling and trying to be brave and good sports and Sam looked like she wanted to attack someone.

Hopefully they will pick it up and teach her how to school her features into something more pleasant to look at next time round.

So glad someone else thinks this! I absolutely HATE her voice and will not watch her performances. I couldn't believe the praise she got at her audition or that she got a second chance and was brought back for the finales.

I've actually rarely heard a singing voice I've hated more. Can't remember the last time I had such a visceral reaction to something like this and I'll be agahst if she wins. I'd actually rather listen to Honey G than Sam.

She seems nice girl but her voice is just awful
She shouts her way through songs, even at the auditon

That song fits her like a glove, but I honestly think the problem with her is whoever is coaching her is trying to make her change too much TOO soon, you cannot change the way someone sings in a couple of weeks, or get them out of bad habits, that takes a lot longer. What they have "taught" her, is clearly not helping her.

Erm, she's not Finnish?

She spends far too much effort trying to fit her affectation in, when she should just concentrate on hitting the right notes to begin with.

The voice coaches really are poor these days. Or maybe they do not bother with them any more.

Ive noticed over the last few seasons especially they ruin acts to suit the X Factor image.

One example i can name is Lauren Platt from 2014. She was going for a certain image if you look at the way she sung all her sungs pre live shows (watch i know where ive been audition). As soon as she went onto the live shows they tried to make her something she wasnt. A dancing performer like a cheryl cole. She was a singer and a very good one. I think that really ruined her chances and the voting reflects that. Her votes decreased the more they tried to swing her across to that style.

Janet Devlin too is an example.

This whole thing about her being a "rock singer" has been totally made up by the judges to try and push her into a niche. Remember her first audition was with a song by the greatest of rock legends...Ellie Goulding.

She isn't even in the same stratosphere as Lzzy Hale!

Sam sounds like a dying Sea Lion, she cannot sing.

From the Room Audition I've said on here that Samantha is a Rock singer, if anything the show has just noticed what I've noticed much later on into her journey.

Samantha's type of Rock though will never get done on the show as it's too heavy for the audience to handle (it literally would see her voted off) so this is why we're getting the weaker version of Sam and it's ashame as all singers should be allowed to do their styles of Music.

To be honest Samantha is this year's Aiden Grimshaw or Paul Akister, all three totally different singers to each other, but their styles of Music is just too alien for The X Factor for the type of looks that all three of them have in particular.

Oh Lauren Platt was sabotaged for Fleur as Fleur was more Simon's thing.

It's been my number one complaint about the show for years. Nobody is allowed to be "natural", they have to fit the extremely limited mold the production team stick to rigidly for what they think a pop star should be. It's infuriating.
