Samantha's type of Rock though will never get done on the show as it's too heavy for the audience to handle (it literally would see her voted off) so this is why we're getting the weaker version of Sam and it's ashame as all singers should be allowed to do their styles of Music.

To be honest Samantha is this year's Aiden Grimshaw or Paul Akister, all three totally different singers to each other, but their styles of Music is just too alien for The X Factor for the type of looks that all three of them have in particular.”

She is not in any way, shape or form a rock singer.

Unless of course your idea of a rock singer is someone who shouts, sings flat and is tuneless.

How to be a Rock singer.

1. Sing Rock songs
2. Have a husky vocal
3. Be able to perform either intensely, or moving around the stage
4. Being able to play an Instrument is key

So far Samantha has demonstrated number 2 and number 3, so imo that shows potential for her to break into the Rock market.

And if the show wants to give her more Soft Rock songs, give her this type of sound https://youtu.be/UBwnAgjpcUg it would suit her a whole lot more.

Although my preference would be more like these.

I Am The Fire
Decode
Somebody's Watching Me cover from the Girl On A Train Film
Bring Me To Life
Nothing Else Matters (great suggestion from Acid Rain)

These are just a few that I've come up with, basically she should be a blend of more Emo Rock, and Heavy Rock, and the odd soft one inbetween like Go Your Own Way.

This weird let's Pop up the Rock act that happens in nearly every series is always a stupid idea from the show as it alienates the actual people that would like them.

They tried the 'Rock Chick' thing with Ruth Lorenzo and Lucie Jones. Ruth could just about do it, but Lucie was as far as rock as you could imagine

Poor Sam, she had potential, but the constraints of X-Factor have suppressed her talent to the point where she's more likely to draw in container ships than viewers.

For X-Factor though, this is nothing new, so I'm not surprised, just mildly disappointed.

My advice would be to keep to songs within her vocal range. Humpty Dumpty, Baa Baa Black Sheep, that kind of thing.

She like a Contralto. She needs almost male range songs. She was so much better pre-lives, before she had her identity stripped by Cowell. There was nothing wrong with her make-up. Who was he to tell her how she should dress and look. There was nothing off-putting or alienating about her before. Now I feel she's lost that confidence she came into the competition with

The biggest question is why does when anyone else does a bad performance on this show it's sabotage, but when the Rock act does a bad performance it's not sabotage?

I don't think people realise that the Cowell is rubbing off here lol.

As someone who knows Sam personally and has seen her perform pre-X Factor, I think the biggest problem is they're turning her into a singer that she just isn't. She's 17, and whenever I've seen her perform, her performances have been solid, fun and featured lots of movement. She's really awesome at working the stage.
However all they're giving her is slow, dated songs that require her standing there. Doesn't help that then songs don't suit her vocal.

Her personality is goofy and playful, and that isn't coming across at all. I hope this week she'll finally get to display that.

Maybe she should be a redcoat.
