I dont get all the hate for the show....we all watch knowing what to expect....a few good singers....a few oddballs....and the rest cannon fodder.

The judges will row.....dermot will dance.

I want the show to succeed......

X factor is still the second highest viewed program aired on a saturday in its monthly time slot.

It's the singers I find boring that can spoil it a bit for me (Sam, Ryan, Matt and 4oD). Obviously my opinion and some others may love those. I want the show to do well. Otherwise we'd never have a Honey G or Wagner ever again.

I want the show to succeed, I wouldn't be watching it if I didn't.

However what doesn't help the show is it's very mono in it's song choice, the types of contestants it will accept, and then it does silly gimmicks like the jukebox which turns people away from the show.

Next year they should remove the jukebox, embrace different genres of Music, and be more creative with song choices and the show might just stabilize in the ratings at least.

Song choices, better weekly themes and interesting contestants who can sing well. The year Alexandra Burke was a great example of them getting it right but still had lots of dud singers. The year Matt Cardle won was good too. I like some funny acts though. This one having Honey G is about right. They just need to get rid of the middle of the road singers.

The problem that hurts this series is you can count on your one hand how many people could actually sing in this series, and that's if all of them were given appropriate song choices.

I wouldn't even say there is MOR this year, it's just good and bad at this point.

And I agree with you that series 5 and 7 had better talent, series 7 in particular had alot of diverse talent which is what the show should be looking towards again.

I really want the show to succeed. It's far more compelling viewing than The Voice or SCD IMO, it's great cosy Autumn/Winter entertainment for when the nights are drawing in and Christmas is coming, and for that reason I particularly enjoy weeks 8, 9 and 10. I also think the hate the show gets online is so ridiculously OTT it makes me like the show a lot more! I'd be embarrassed to talk about my dislike for a TV show in the way some do about XF on here.

However, it has been deeply flawed this year and last. I may as well go through why.

I don't know if I'm imagining this, but the production values in terms of live set-pieces etc. have gone downhill. The live show productions seem cheaper. I mean compare this from 2014 to this from 2015 - - the former is much more professional & atmospheric, right?
Doesn't this from 2015 look so cheap compared to this from 2014?
To give 2015 some credit, there were two good productions - this and this - shame the budget all went to one act!

The same buzz the show had even 2 years ago feels like it's gone, and for that reason the live shows just don't grab me like they used to. In Nov/Dec it feels more like I'm just warming up for the main event I'm A Celeb straight after, they need to get a bit of that energy back.

Stuff like the Jukebox, whilst merely designed for light fun, have damaged the show's credibility. In fact, it now wouldn't surprise me if they ditched the lifeline vote just to get Ryan out - that's how little they seem to care about credibility now.

To be fair though, it is miles better than last year, particularly the auditions were- and this was reflected in the audition ratings. Last year just felt cold- a small example, but why weren't there Christmas trees up in the semi last year? Touches like this make the show feel cosy and nice. The live show acts were way more talented than this year's bunch though, shame they were wasted on such cheap production.

So yes, I really want the show to succeed - but I want it to improve. Make it the exciting and compelling winter's watch it was just 2 years ago.

Also btw, BGT and Strictly aren't really dropping. Everything else on your list is though.

After this years debacle I think that it is time to scrap the show at the end of this series. It really is a complete and utter farce.

I honestly couldn't care less. It's a joke nowadays and I wonder what difference bringing The Voice to ITV will make.
I have a feeling that Voice will become the show about finding serious talent and XF will be about froth, kiddy pop and novelty acts.
The real singers will be directed to The Voice and the 'I want this so much' gag will be the XF staples. Acts like Peyton, James, Janet and Nate would have been a better fit for TV than XF imo

The show has succeeded. Wildly, beyond reasonable expectations. The charts are still chock full of XF alums.

Despite the headlines, its biggest competition isn't any current show. Its biggest competition is the memory of its own glory days.

To put it briefly, the X Factor has lost its X Factor.

Well tbf, this series had the potential to be great but then they sent all the talent packing at Judges Houses.

If people want to know why the viewing figures are so poor, look at who was put through to the live shows and which of those contestants were given FAR too much airtime in the earlier rounds.

...but it's X Factor at it's most predictable so we're never going to have another 2008. It seems too good to be true now.

QFT - Imagine a live shows with the likes of Peyton, James, Janet, Nate, Skarl3t etc and letting them have a say in their own song choices rather than this bunch of dullards. They really could have had an interesting, eclectic, credible line up that was talked about for the right reasons.

But, oh no, had to get the competition for the golden boy out the way just in case the public got it wrong again this year

So like 2013 in some senses. Except 2013 was well-produced, had amazing guests on Sundays and got high ratings.

I still standby that Christian Burrows would've offered some great live shows aswell, and he would've been a talking point for being more of an intense performer.

I agree. I actually preferred him to Matt and he was far superior to Freddie and Ryan. But, again, too much of a threat to the chosen one,

Such a shame, we really could have had a vintage year with the acts that got to judges houses.

I want the show to succeed. I've been watching religiously since 2006 - with the exception of 2012 which had the dullest live show line-up since the early years. I think the following things would vastly improve the show:

- a diverse range of finalists. Cannon fodder is expected but take 2011 for example: Little Mix, Amelia, Marcus, Misha, Janet, The Risk, Kitty... probably the best line-up ever of finalists.

- More up-tempo performances: it's saturday night television - it's supposed to be enjoyable. A few ballad singers are okay if they're in the league of Leona, Alexandra, Ruth etc. But John Lewis versions of songs are DULL. Who'd want to watch ballad after ballad on a Saturday night? This trend seemed to start properly in 2012 (Ella).

- More imaginative song choices by more imaginative artists. If someone has to do Whitney, Beyonce or Mariah, do I'm Your Baby Tonight / Love On Top / It's Like That... not the same old same old. The themes could be improved too - no Divas, rest Motown despite me loving the genre.

- Make the live show line-up more of a level playing field: the finalists last year were chosen to ensure Louisa walked to victory. This year it's Matt's to lose. It's more fun when we have no idea who'll win. Back in 2008, it could've been Diana at one point... or JLS... or Alexandra. In 2011, it was Little Mix or Marcus - no one knew for sure who'd win.

- Keep the judging panel the same: Strictly has been consistently successful for years and I think it's partially because the judging panel rarely changes. Compare that to a conveyor belt of judges on XF - some who are only there for the money and look bored throughout.

We also had really good singers like Luena Martinex who were were just shoved aside as if they had nothing to offer. It's shocking really.

I just want the show to cut out all the controversy, the staging and the arguing and for it to become a talent show again, like it was in the past and like pop idol. If they want to add entertainment bits, have sketches like they used to do on pop idol. Simon now won't get involved in anything that makes him look silly, I'd love to see him dress up in a ridiculous costume or have a comedy duet with Louis, but he doesn't do any of that.

The show would do better if they did more risky performances of songs not released like uptown funk it went to number 1!! Giftys doesn't count because TMG was already released

They would also do well to stop the obvious deramping and more fairer performance order!!

Also I think they need to have less production sometimes - it can be off putting sometimes also stop slowing the bloody songs down! It's so annoying

Less judge quarrels and more about the contestants

Stop changing the panel and actually be consistent

No more joke acts please

Better Sunday guests and switching up the themes

I like The X Factor and have done since it started but the producers need to learn to stop interfering. Their constant meddling with the voting format has destroyed the show and its credibility. I do want it to continue but please, just put through the 12 best singing acts that this country has to offer and STOP ****ING WITH THE VOTING. Leave it be.

It always makes me laugh how us forum members think we represent the public at home ......i get that we are the public but not to the extent that we a blind to what goes on....we listen to the conspiracy theories that appear on ds snd spread then like wild fire.....

Normally I'm big X Factor-Fan and I want the Show to do well. Also I wanted it back here in Germany. But with all those crazy changes over the last seasons they do everything for it that the Show become a fail.

This year is the worst one ever. Judges, contestant........ I lost all interest in this years season. That never happened before.

100% this. There were some great people at Judges Houses this year - that older guy with the guitar who forgot his words for example (sorry can't remember his name) - who would have made the live shows more interesting. I think that is why Honey G is still in, hers is the only entertaining performance, the rest are just bleh.

I just can't understand why ppl watch this show. I stopped 4 years ago. I am dam sure they could find something better to put on than this.

Nope, shows rigged every week, contestants don't sing live, too much vocal effects and backing track smothering the ropey pre-records, judges never give a real critique anymore, and frankly it's just crap now.
