Christmas double issues seem to be on general sale now - What's On TV & TV Choice both £1 -good value for the budget titles, TV Times I think £3 (?), Radio Times?

Radio TImes £4.50
TV Times £3.00
TV & Satellite Week £3.00
Total TV Guide £2.50
What's on TV £1.00
TV Choice £1.00

There's really no need to go beyond either of the cheap ones unless you have a traditional buying habit for a Christmas TVT or RT. TV & Sat Week being 50p more expensive than Total TV seems a bad move.

Thanks for that list. Managed to get the TV Times (incl.Christmas issue) as part of a cheap sub. offer this year...special issue just dropped through the letterbox this morning - 196 pages, looks a reasonable read but overpriced at £3 (as is the standard mag).

Slightly disappointed this year that the guides haven't been issued to cover Christmas & New Year listings (i.e. 24th Dec-6th Jan double issue). I guess they decided that starting on Christmas Eve would be "too close" to Christmas day.

Interestingly the TV Times has the strapline "The ORIGINAL Christmas TV guide".

Radio Times started publishing Christmas TV details in 1936, TV Times in 1955,we can all work that one out. TV Times wasn't a national publication until 1968 as many of the companies published their own magazines.

In 1993, Radio Times did a 15-day magazine as Christmas Day fell on a Saturday. I dare say they had more staff back then - doubt that would go down too well these days!

Got my double TV choice yesterday.

Who in their right mind pays £4.50 for a Radio Times?

733k general sales according to the 2015 figures - http://www.pressgazette.co.uk/full-2...verage-4-cent/

So the Christmas issue sells way beyond that.

I paid for the TV Times Digital Version, not remembering I had a subscription, which could my mind blank, while having to revert my tablet back to new.

On when is this thread being shut for Christmas, it isn't really and be used. But as Im a Regular user of the Radio Times Christmas Thread, I didn't want to steal there thunder.

Remember the next edition is out on Christmas Eve, which In my mind will be when this thread really gets going, as we will have no boundaries.

I did wonder the same thing. In our local supermarket they were all next to each other. Quite a few people picked up the Radio Times, put it back down and went off with TV Choice - me included!

I miss the detailed radio listings, although the BBC website will probably have all the information I need.

But it's two weeks' worth - and this year is actually less than double the single issue price (£2.30). Don't see what the problem is...

I can't think why Total TV Guide doesn't have listings for 4seven in it's magazine particularly as this channel is one of the few to be broadcast in HD on Freeview?

This weekend's mags in the papers were printed before the New Year listings were available (70p for the next three weeks TV listings and a worthless newspaper still isn't bad though).

Sunday Times should have New Year in tomorrow's Culture as it's printed later.

So, it came on Thursday? Better than the Radio Times subscription situation, but still not great, as TV Times seemed to be widely available by last Monday.

Does it come by First Class post?

I will look at these tomorrow as I would like a guide that cover the two important days in one mag
the 25th of December and the 31st of December

Even though I have had all the magazines through the Post except for the Radio Times which I am still waiting for

P.S. The Mail is not a worthless newspaper I used to quite like reading it

Yeah arrived on Thursday - in my eagerness to rip open the cover I never noticed whether it had been sent 1st or 2nd class...will have a look at the next issue when it comes in just before Christmas.
