Yeah arrived on Thursday - in my eagerness to rip open the cover I never noticed whether it had been sent 1st or 2nd class...will have a look at the next issue when it comes in just before Christmas.
THERE IS A BIG HOO HAH ABOUT THIS ON THE Christmas THREAD - SUBSCRIBERS HAVING TO WAIT FOR UP TO six DAYS AFTER IT APPEARS IN THE SHOPS BEFORE HAVING THEIR SUBSCRIBER COPIES (NOT THE Christmas ISSUE THE ONE BEFORE)

Couple of posters wrote to the subscription department and were told conflicting answers - I was told it has been sent by second class since June , while another was told it has never been sent second class - but have found wrappers f the last couple of issues and it HAS been sent second class

With the next edition due to hit the shops the day after a Bank Holiday, the subscription copies might not only be delayed by being posted one day late, but also by the Second Class postage.

I'm not particularly bothered whether I receive it on a Thursday or Friday but I received the Christmas edition a week after it appeared in my local Tesco so why subscribe ? And why do they keep saying it's not sent second class when it very obviously is ?

Ninja Warrior UK returning on New Years Eve is a strange one in my eyes, Most of the January Saturday Night shows have always started the First Saturday in January.

Probably won't be here much from now on until after Christmas, so I'd just like to wish all who contribute to this thread a very Merry Christmas and a Happy and Peaceful New Year...

They wanted to have the wrestling on New Year and since Ninja Warrior is made by the same people and has more or less the same target audience, putting them back-to-back on New Year's Eve was a sensible solution, it's only starting one week early.

How come the Christmas editions of the TV guides were printed for 17-30th when they could of printed them so that they covered the new year and bank holiday?

Because the mags would have been out a week later. They're huge money spinners for the publishing companies and it's all about getting the Christmas TV - not so much New Year - guides on the shelves as early as possible.

The way that the dates fell this year meant that there was no way of getting both Christmas and New Year in the same magazine and for them to be out on the first weekend of December.

So, it came on Thursday? Better than the Radio Times subscription situation, but still not great, as TV Times seemed to be widely available by last Monday.

Does it come by First Class post?
My (listings 31/12-6/1) copy of the TV Times arrived on Saturday (Christmas Eve) - label at the top said "Delivered by Royal Mail 24" - I presume the RM offer this service to deliver copies within 24 hours. So if mailed out 5pm then + 24 takes us to 5pm the next day, effectively 1st class post?

Into the New Year and What's On TV follows TV Times and increases in price (from 58p to 60p), whilst TV Choice rises to 55p.

The 31/12-6/1 listings issue of TV Times features the new New Year shows heavily with the Editor's picks for the week being:-

New Year's Eve - Wrestling on ITV, Ninja Warrior UK (ITV)

New Year's Day - Sherlock (BBC1)

Holiday Monday - The Halcyon (ITV)

Thursday - Unforgotten (ITV)

Further on in the magazine the Picks Of The Day are as follows:-

New Year's Eve - Peter Pan Goes Wrong (BBC1)

New Year's Day - Sherlock (BBC1)

Holiday Monday - The Halcyon (ITV)

Tue. 3rd - Yellowstone (BBC2)

Wed. 4th - Midsomer Murders (ITV)

Thur. 5th - Death In Paradise (BBC1)

Fri. 6th - The World's Most Extraordinary Homes (BBC2)
