Hi,
My DVD recorder has just died. I'm horrified that they aren't for sale anymore and I'm struggling to find a suitable alternative. It seems EVERYONE is expected to have a Sky or Netflix type of entertainment package but that isn't so and I have three needs to meet:
1 - I have Sky but record to DVD to put on my laptop/tablet to watch shows on the train whilst commuting
2 - I also watch those DVDs on a TV in my spare room whilst on the treadmill
3 - I share the DVDs with my mum who doesn't want Sky
In all examples the programmes are watched then the discs cleansed and repeat.
For issue 1 I tried Sky Go but there wasn't a decent amount of programmes available. Plus I don't/won't have enough mobile data quantity to cope with mobile use.
For issue 2 I do have a video sender but the signal is c*** so it cuts out often or gets terrible interference.
For issue 3 ???
Any suggestions?
thanks
Louise

Dvd recorder from eBay.

Ideally a Panasonic, Samsung or Sony. I'd avoid Philips or supermarket brands.

Assuming that your laptop has a dvd writer, you could try a scart to usb capture system like this:

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/USB-VHS-To...cAAOSwRQlXfMBZ

But be prepared for a bit of a faff! You will have to have your laptop connected and running the software while you record, then possibly edit the video before buning it to a dvd.

Also, the quality of the picture will not be as good as your dvd recorder if you recorded via the scart lead in RGB mode as this only records via the composite video connection.

Probably easier to see if you can find a second hand dvd recorder on e-bay. But they are getting old now (especially Pioneer and Sony models).

As above or a Pioneer, I had a Pioneer DVR 220 that was used loads and never missed a beat. Have 2 Sonys now, a HXD870 and a 890 and are used for radio recordings and moving stuff from the SKY box.

Ebay or Gumtree is where to look.
