Rob produced a really decent QS.

It was clear from Laura's last dance that she was favouring one leg as she walked away from the judges to take her position. People sometimes want to put the dancers out of their misery and she didn't look at all comfortable.

Public vote. I have no problem with it.”

I noticed this too . Probably her injury hasn't fully healed yet and this is why she couldn't give the dance her all but had to hold back .
Still no need for Giovanni to be such a show off and make her look worse .

I like that you have a favourite you are passionate about, it makes the show better but also disappoints when they go.

I didn't like Laura initially but she grew on me and I will miss her and would far prefer to watch her than Ed. But it's an entertainment show more than a dance competition and he is entertaining many so does deserve to be there.

Ed's probably in for the long haul. A bit like John Sergeant.

It just means the real dancers will be going out 1 week earlier than they might otherwise.

Instead of getting 1 point or possibly 2 off the judges each week normally Ed's pocketing at least 4 and maybe 5 or 6.

That helps towards keeping him out of the DO at the expense of dragging decent dancers in.

Not ideal from my POV for various reasons but that is how the rules work and most people seem happy with them.

I'm sorry Laura was injured and got a free pass, she was obviously still carrying the injury last week, and this week Giovanni tried to make her ok bad with all his solo bits. Anyone who has watched Strictly for a decent length of time could tell Laura was not performing well, whether she was still injured or was afraid of hurting herself I don't know, but she has not performed well since her injury.

Ed continues to entertain and has improved considerably since week 1.

And THAT is why Laura is out and Ed is still in.

But he showed last night that he can dance . That was a very good QS and I couldn't see a foot fault in his routine . He deserved his top marks .

I'm as hypocritical as the next DS poster and this year none of the Ringahs are doing it for me, Rinder, Claudia and Ed are making the show for me.

i think all the contestants are lovely as people but I'll happily lose Greg, Daisy and anyone of the "destined for the final trio" before losing Ed, Claudia or Judge. I think Ed has a shelf life of Blackpool but hoping Rinder can do an Anita.

I agree Ed is there because he is real and dancing proper steps in his dances which makes him a real dancer

Ed simpily got enough votes to avoid danger Laura didn't

I like Laura but she never wowed me and her performances were often a bit forgettable. She did some good dances (Tango and Quickstep) but some bad ones, and the Samba was poor IMO. I personally felt Laura danced the worst of anyone this week so she deserved to leave, even though there are others I've liked less over the series as a whole such as Greg and Louise.

I didn't expect to like Ed but he has completely won me over, he is really entertaining and just enjoyable to watch. I've voted for him the last two weeks because I'm loving seeing him and his dancing is getting better, plus he always does try to do the proper dance.

I like seeing good dancers do well but Ed and Judge Rinder are really bringing me a lot of joy as a viewer, and ultimately isn't that what it is all about?

I'm not saying you're wrong to think that but in the poll for Laura's best dance, the tango she performed first week back is favourite by some distance

I didn't vote for him, all my votes went to Daisy as I found her dance charming.”

She had plenty of recognisable samba in there. I'm no expert, but I thought I saw voltas, botafogos and promenade runs. She didn't do the Batucada, no, but that's not the only step in the samba and it may have been too much for her injury.

Also, Laura's non-dancing (the Batucada section and the spins from Gio) were a section of the routine, rather than about half of Ed's being slapstick...

I look forward to Ed's dances - never remembered any of Laura's. If Ed wasn't in, at the most Laura would have got one more week. Sorry your fave had gone out, but that the show.

Sorry but Laura getting eliminated was wrong on so many levels. She has 1 bad week, she was top of the leader board last week and this week she's eliminated.

Now my fear is that she's the start of the good dancer getting eliminated while other will be saved.
I fear next week we could see a Louise and Danny dance off or even Ore again with another good dancer.

Now don't get me wrong Ed and Judge Rinder entertain me but it gets unfair when better dancers get eliminated.

She was better than Ore in the dances off so she should have stayed. I blame the judges for voting her out. Same thing happened to Jamelia last year when she was in the dance off with Peter. The judges saved him when he made mistakes and Jamelia danced a lot better. How is Ed still in and Laura out? Even my friend agrees and she doesn't watch it. Come on people need to vote for the dancing. I voted three times for Laura. So sad to see her go. Definitely the biggest shock ever”

BIB1 - Is this a wind up?

BIB2 - Lol, no it wasn't.

We're voting for our favourites. Whether that be the best dancer on the night, the one who entertained the most, a deemed 'trier' or favourite from prior to the show or indeed just from the show itself.

If it was all about the good dancers e.g. Danny Louise, Ore etc we should dispense with the public vote and only recruit those with dance experience.

I didn't vote this week but watching back I' d have possibly voted Ed partly because he started almost from a negative base in terms of public perception and ability and now is actually executing recognisable steps.

It helps that although those that do well inevitably have a career boost of sorts, this is not meant to be a life changing event. Thus I have no guilt at voting at a less able dancer who I liked on the night.

No it's not. The show is about learning to dance and they all start at different levels of experience/ability/talent and all working hard regardless of how "good" they are by a Saturday night. Ed is entertaining and learning and improving. He has just as much right to be there as Danny, Louise, etc. At the moment the public are voting for him, they may stop, they may not and he gets to the final. It's a popularity contest at the end of the day.

For me this week, judging by the saturday performances it was a case of who is going to be in the dance off with Laura, much as was the case with Anastacia last week!!
That routine just looked to be beyond her capabilities, way too ambitious, which I put down to her injury at the time!!
Ironically I thought she was ultimately unlucky to go out as she danced it so vastly better in the DO & had she not been up against one of the top three dancers so far I think she could well have been saved because of it, but Ore was always going to go through from that DO unless he'd made a right dog's dinner of it!!

Ed is staying in for two reasons imo!!
a) Because the public loves a tryer &
b) Because Katya is an absolute sweetheart who is doing wonders with him each week & keeping us all happily entertained!!

BIB Not a chance of this happening with Danny dancing the Argentine Tango. I believe that he would most likely top the leaderboard.

I think that Katya deserves a bit of credit. She has taken Ed from being an out and out no-hoper to actually developing some dancing skills. He is arguably now the most improved dancer. That still leaves him in last place, but credit where credit is due. Sad to see Laura go, though. This sort of thing is inevitable with such a high quality field. They can't all be in the final.

It was better for Laura to go, for her injured foot. She shouldn't have been dancing and training at all, if she was as badly unjured as some articles suggest she was.
