No it was the guy whose penis we saw her sucking who ruined her (in at least two senses of the word). The Sheikh lost, badly.

Probably nothing happened between them, the camera is only really on them when they are critiquing so there is no need for them to interact, I am sure they were fine with each other before/after and during the breaks of the show.

yep, before paula abdul lost the plot

i think that panel and the panel AI ended with are probably my two favourites on talents shows

Jennifer Lopez, Keith Urban and Harry Connick Jr worked so well togther

neither Urban or Connick Jr have the necessary profile in the UK for XF but would love to see one of them do it

indeed, although the point was merely that she's always had external negativity to contend with, and last year was no different. Cheryl's work ethic has always been off the scale, and she's a decent dancer. But her limitations are far more glaring than Robbie's.

Dannii could easily be coupled with Cheryl in that light. But not Barlow, who took great delight in humiliating contestants.”

That's only your opinion. Gary was one of the few judges that actually cared about music and good acts and he was never malicious for the sake of it. And it's certainly not true that he criticized acts that outperformed his own. James Arthur, Ella, Sam Bailey and lots and lots of others were never his acts and he was more than praising of them.

I can't see Dannii returning if Sharon's a judge. The atmosphere would turn icy cold. Anyway, I wouldn't be surprised if Sharon had it written into her contract that Dannii wasn't to be a judge as long as she was there.

Far and away the worst panel ever assembled on any talent show.

That's pretty much how forums work.

His back catalogue says otherwise, and the show is effectively a karaoke competition. It was staggeringly obvious throughout.

Its time for Sharon to retire.

One thing Cheryl and Tulisa have in common is they were both tolerable in their first year on the show and then it went down hill. They both also have limited music knowledge, as shown by Cheryl's Elton John comment and Tulisa's about Aretha Franklin. I wasn't a fan of Barlow but I did laugh when he made the fag ash breath to Tulisa. They need a strong woman on the panel who knows about music, isn't worried about pandering to Cowell and actually cares about their acts at least while the show is on air.

How? I thought that pandering to Cowell is part and parcel of the whole judging process.

I liked Tulisa as a judge in 2011. 2012, she lost her spark.

I loved Cheryl in 2008 but as time has gone on, she also lost her spark.

For me, my favourite panel has to be Simon, Cheryl, Dannii and Louis.

I know last year had its downs but I loved Rita and Grimmy as judges. Grimmy always gave constructive criticism and genuinely gave good feedback.

I love that line lol. I'm desperately waiting for someone on the panel to say that, but that will never happen.

I wish Adele would do it. I know she never, ever will, but she would be fantastic, so funny and wise.

Agreed. I absolutely loved Rita but to be fair, she sucked at mentoring. Nick really put a lot of work into his acts, and I personally thought that you Brits didn't give him a fair shot.

How about an artist who can actually write their own hit songs rather than a covers singer?

Simon is past his prime but getting rid of him will put the show on a FASTER tailspin. He still plays the tough judge but he's not up to it.
Louis is a fixture in the show and provides the right comic relief; although, if you have loopy Sharon in the panel with him, he can stand to be more serious.
Sharon is fun. She's playing the role Louis usually plays and it's not bad, if not totally un-constructive.
Nicole now is not as good of a fit in the panel as in her first stint. When she brings her character into being the de-facto head judge, it works; when she does it as the "pretty judge", not so much.

Gary doing the "nasty" act just sounds petty and condescending; when he bashes someone for not having a good voice, he's reminding you why Robbie became big and he didn't.
Dannii was great and always tries to be contructive but she gets petty, too. (see: Jedward, Katie Waissel)

Kelly's American-isms may not always resonate with the British public (who knew you'a doin' uptempo, owww), but she was solid.
Cheryl's method is simple but unpretentious (well, mostly). She pairs well with a strong-willed female (Dannii, compared to Rita).
Mel plays the nasty judge really well. Maybe bringing her back with the role would work, as her sass feels second-fiddle to Simon's two years ago.
Tulisa is hit-and-miss for me. She clicked with Little Mix but everything else felt off.

A nice lineup would be Louis-Mel-Kelly-Simon
