I'm a bit of an Ed fan, his dances are entertaining if not 100% correct in execution.

I blooming hated him as a politician but his dancing is winning me over. So why oh why can he not say thank you to the voting public?

He comes across as loving himself and arrogant and I'm sure he doesn't mean it, please Ed, just say thanks once in a while.

But Katya at least did show huge gratitude. The ones that bugged me were Rinder and Oksana. Both so busy congratulating and thanking each other that it didn't seem to occur to either of them that the public were the ones they should be thanking.

Agreed, Rinder didn't say thank you either.

It really bugs me because I like them all and I don't want the lack of thanks to cloud my judgement but it does.

It's a matter of profound indifierence to me whether someone does prayer hands and theatrically mouths "thank you oh thank you" down the camera when they're called safe. I find it a bit cringey to be honest.

I vote for him and can't say I'm too bothered whether he does a big thank you to me down the camera or not (I think he usually sends a thank you tweet anyway).

I'm not on Twitter and I agree that some of the thanks are a bit OTT, but a quick nod to the camera and a thanks can't be too difficult to do?

I too expect and actively look for some nod of acknowledgement. Bit academic in my case though as I never vote ( well not since season4)

I'm more annoyed by the pros who think they must go OTT in their celebrations .

I thought I had heard Ed (and most of the other celebs) thank the public for keeping them in at various points during the chats they have with Claudia after getting through. As long as they do it at some point during the show does it really matter if they do it while standing under the lights?

100% in fact I think it actually shows too much awareness. If I voted for someone I want to see their genuine reaction, not their carefully rebearsed one. Just screech, hug and then remember the public just after your lights switched off.

I think they should say thank you and it gets on my nerves a bit that Rinder and Ed don't, its just polite and can get the public to vote for you again especially as anyone can go this year and it being a suppirse if you get through 1 week to another, I have been through college public votes before and said thank you for those that vote no matter what the outcome is for the reason I explain above

That doesn't bother me so much, but I don't like the way Ed is going on about "taking Katya to Blackpool" ... it feels a bit like guilt-tripping.

I would say, and this is a qualitative rather than quantitative analysis, that there are more pros than slebs who seem to do the thanks stuff, when the names are announced.

So looking forward to the equivalent threads for Daisy, Greg, Claudia, Louise, Danny, Rob and Ore, just for balance.

Not at all but I actively kept my eyes on Ed this evening, I really don't think he said thanks once. In fact in the Claudtorium he kept stretching his legs and looking at Claudia.

I think his dancing and entertaining is fab, I just want him to recognise his voting public and say thanks.

Not me by the way, I don't vote until the semi finals...

I'm not bothered about any thank you's but I love the last saved couples bewilderment and terror.
That week when Lesley didn't know if they were saved or not, and Cloudia tonight. She was a wreck.
And Daisy barely coherent with relief. Tee hee.

Saying thankyou can often just be a PR thing really. It doesn't necessarily mean that person is really expressing eternal gratitude. It's just a good way of making the viewer feel appreciated and therefore more likely to vote for them next time. I'm surprised that Ed, as an ex politician, doesn't do it.

But yes Katya has tweeted (and Ed retweeted) "We're so grateful! We love every week! & trying to improve!Thank u all of u who voted!....."

Except, just for more balance, right back atya, most of the contestants do say thank you. I'm not over-bothered whether they do or not, tbh, but it looks a tad more gracious.

The pros almost always say thanks in my qualitative analysis too. They're probably less shaky and overawed than the celebs at that mo, so more free to do the manners thing. Though everyone looked jittery and convinced they were gone tonight. I guess they all do the maths...

I feel totally the same way. I take it as a given that they appreciate the votes so prefer to see them enjoy their moment.

You love it!? I can hardly watch... though, yes, I guess that is a kind of loving it too. It's horribul!

Slightly off topic, but another annoying trait. On It Takes Two, I've noticed both Ed and Greg saying that WE are doing our best and hope to continue. But in very large measure, it is only the celebrity that has to try their best, the professional can easily do the dance to the expected standard. I warm more to a celebrity who says I am doing my best, and thanks the professional for their support.

Its amazes me that it is OK for Ed not to say thanks but if certain other did not say thanks they would get hammered on here and the bile would be flying.

I'm genuinely amazed that anyone expects a "thank you" or cares. It seems to me to be implicit, and there's no real opportunity to say it properly anyway.

Greg's audible "WHAT?!" a few weeks ago comes to mind.

They did.

I mentioned this earlier on another "Ed Thread." He stood there throughout with a glum face.
Then in my opinion he found the news of his missing the dance off gave him the opportunity to get a bit too touchy feely with his partner and couldn't be assed to thank the people that were keeping him in. That will not go unnoticed.

I mentioned too that Rinder also didn't say thank you and poor Claudia looked totally bemused by it all as if she had no idea what was happening.
