He's as camp as a row of tents, fully immerses himself in the sparkles, glitter and spraytans and is a joyous participant in Strictly.

What's not to love about Rob Rinder?

I agree that were he to meet a judges' favourite such as Danny, Louise or Ore in the DO, he would be voted off. The issue is whether or not he will fall into bottom two. If Susanna Reid can make the final, then so can Robert. It's good that he's doing a second ballroom next week as that means a Latin at Blackpool. Provided he does not draw rumba his salsa or samba might set people alight.

I just wish he'd close his mouth once in a while. It totally distracts me.

Yep, I love him. The thought of a Danny/Louise/Daisy final bores me to tears.

In spite of all the silly hysteria about the "wrong people/bad dancers/not so good dancers" blah blah blah staying in, I expect Ed and Greg will be gone before December. I hope the final will not be contested by the chosen ones; Danny the pro who imo should not be in the competition any way together with Louise and eternally saved Daisy.

The Judge is Strictly personified.

I like him, it is great to see someone apparently really enjoying the experience. For a "non dancer" he is very good and I always look forward to seeing him, facial expressions and all, as he makes me smile, which is important in these times of continuous sad news and coverage of US elections!

He's the one that continues to shock me. I can understand why Ed and Greg keep getting through but Robert?

I don't mean that in a bad way, just that Ed has the whole comedy/John/Anne type of vote... his time will come eventually. Greg's got the whole 'non-dancer' journey thing going on... but they don't seem to be pushing Robert much, there's not much of a storyline there for him.

It's not really like his personality is OTT like his TV show personality, or like Tameka was. I thought that would help him but maybe holding back with the odd funny comment is actually serving him well?

I don't know - to me, he's just there making up the numbers, but clearly that isn't the case for the majority of viewers. Him surviving each week is surprising me more and more as the weeks go on, so I'm definitely not counting him out (to get to the final), but he won't win - Louise & Kevin have the title gift wrapped by the show for them.

Well, for one, he's (presumably) asked to be known as "Judge Rinder" on the show when he's not a bloody judge. His name is Robert. Annoys me every time they say it.

Also, I'd be able to like him more if he'd shut his mouth while dancing, utterly distracting for me.

I don't mind him otherwise and think he'll go a lot further in the competition, whether as far as the final I'm not sure, but definitely the semi. I do though think the comments on this thread about the "meh" quality of the some of the dancers in this year's show are right and that might give him that chance of getting there, he's certainly got character which sets him apart. As other dancers drop out their supporters might coalesce around him as opposed to the less-interesting dancers or the complete ringers.

God I hope not, imagine the contortions his face will make if he even makes the final.

If he wins his face will probably drop off, from the strain.

I really hope so. He is exactly what Strictly is about. I don't want to see trained dancers winning. Strictly for me is taking celebs from a non dancing background, teaching them a new skill and watching them improve each week. I find him very entertaining and look forward to his dance every week. Really hope he makes the final.

If a celeb is improving each week AND has public support, they could avoid the DO and therefore get to the final.
I'd be more than happy if Rinder did it!

Love Robert Rinder, be delighted if he won.

If Ore can't win, Robert or Greg for me as I think they're getting such a lot from this show. Mind you I wouldn't be mad if Daisy did but she doesn't seem popular. Claudia leaves me cold much the same as Laura did

Am sure this will make me very unpopular but my dream final would be Rob, Greg and Ore. The thought of a Louise, Danny, Daisy final leaves me cold. Can't really warm to Claudia either but have no objections to her making the final.

Its a bit unfair to presume Rob Rinder is behind this, with respect. His ITV show, a clear play on Judge Judy, tagged him thus and the SCD producers are probably simply running with it. I think Rob is fab and his QS at the weekend was sublime....God knows how he can perfect the routine given his filming commitments to JR on ITV. I hope those early nerves have subsided as his performances have improved and his attention to detail seems to now run parallel with this. I do hope youre right and he gets at least to the semi.

I hate that show -- from what I've seen, which is a ten minute video on youtube. The guy in court was a pitiably repulsive guy with fourteen children, who was being sued by one grown-up son for a total arrived at by the allocation of five quid a week for all his childhood. Grim, small, entrenched.

At one point, the absentee-dad started to speak out of turn. Instead of saying 'hush', or 'quiet, please', 'silence in court', or whatever, Rinder shrieked in a crescendo (no exaggeration) ’Talkingggggg!' It was a deliciously immoderate tantrum masquerading as authority. Nostrils flared. Eyes bulging. Face red. Bizarrely the awful dad in court and his small-ambition, dogged son weren't meant to be centre stage. It was the Judge.

It was like an eighteenth-century woodcut depicting Tyranny.

Horrible show... It's why I have an ambiguous liking/disliking for the judge. I suspect that persona and much of how he appears on the show is performed. I don't mean that like people say FAKE! btw, but as the saving point. But then he's so intelligent and occasionally honest/insightful. Judge Rinder is a truly perplexing man

Well if one of the celebs played a fictional Medical Consultant in Holby City I doubt they would be known as Dr on SCD
