It's bad but for me nothing will beat last year. Nick Grimshaw and Rita Ora were horrendous additions to the show.

No, no series of XF is worse than last year. That would take quite some doing.

i agree worst series if you mean as contestants, but at least olly murs is not presenting

I have to agree that this is one of the worst series in the history of the show. But it's really not as bad as last year with it's many faults (pointless live judges houses, naff new judges, 2 acts being sent home each live show, Olly and Caroline presenting, etc.). For me, no series will ever be as good as series 5 with the amazing vocals of acts like Ruth Lorenzo, Alexandra Burke, Diana Vickers, etc... This show is slowly rotting and I don't feel it can get any better with improving it's ratings.....

I can't understand how Olly Murs has had so much success. I find him really cringe-worthy.

I really can't understand it either. His voice sounds like a very poor man's Will Young. Others have likened his talent to the bloke at the office party or wedding. I think he has succeeded because he's given catchy (although not to my taste) songs and people can relate to him as an ordinary bloke as opposed to having exceptional talent. He has also received an insane amount of backing from Cowell.

I agree with you, 100%, OP.

When Mrs O put Honey G through, I vowed not to ever watch the programme again and I haven't. I can catch up with what's happening from reading these pages and it would seem that I'm the winner as the programmes that I watch instead of XF are far superior. I refuse to watch any programme that treats its viewers like fools and that's exactly what XF did. My opinion, of course, sorry if I upset anyone by my views.

It must be pretty close as I don't thnk there has ever been a series where so many of the best acts have been sent home and we have been left with the dross.

I thougth last years season wasn't great and I couldn't imagine that it will go even worse. I mean it wasn't a great season (judging panel, joke acts, six chair challenge) but it was ok until judges houses. Those decisions were a complete fail and I lost all interest in this year. That never happened before.

Last years was worse.predetermined winner and a panel that made it unwatchable(Ora and Grimshaw especially)

I don't think anyone can top last year, but I would say Leon Jackson's year was worse than this year by a narrow margin.

I think there enough memorable performances (inc. auditions etc.) last year to make it worth watching, even though there were some baffling choices for the lives (including contestants that were so unmemorable I had to look them up)

I don't know why there's so much emphasis on the judges sometimes, or why so many people think it's possible for someone (Nick, Ora, whoever) to be worse than Louis

I think Leon took a lot of stick because of his performance as a guest the year after he won. He had a couple of bad weeks but wasn't nearly as bad as many on here make out. If you look at his performances on YT you'll see he was much better than the vast majority of this year's contestants including fellow Scots Emily and Ryan.

This one has been dreadful and last year was just as bad ,it needs a rest for a few years
big bang theory

On talent last year was stronger as people like Seann, Monica, Max, Anton, Mason, and even Lauren Murray when on form would wipe the floor with most of these acts this year without a shadow of a doubt.

However we then hit the cons of the year which does make this series still more enjoyable.

1. The styles of Music was incredibly mono when we got to the top 5, only Reggie N Bollie was anything different and that's bad considering that they was a joke act.

2. The voting in that year was beyond appalling, voting Louisa as the winner when she probably was one of the worst vocalists, and performers of that entire year, then losing some of the people that I mentioned above in the first 3 live shows because people personally didn't like them for non-Musical reasons.

3. The show did lack any professionalism whatsoever, I still can't get over how Olly and Caroline ruined the deadlock scenario on a Sunday.

4. Shorter live shows meant that the acts weren't given a chance to really grow.

They should've rested it for a couple of years.

Are you really suggesting series 1 and series 4 are *better*?

This series definitely isn't the worst ever. I'd say series 1, 4, 8, 10 and 12 were all worse than this year. Maybe series 3 too as outside of Leona that year was dire and it was a one act show.

Last year was the worst series ever. Abysmal acts, terrible judges, the worst hosts I've ever seen on television and a naff planned winner.

This year is the second worst year.
