i am sure they have got worse if that is possible, I have never been a great fan of their Chocalte even before they was taken over, but I noticed that they have got worse once Kraft got their hands on them. Anyway yesterday I decided to buy some again, something called jelly popping Candy shells, shows how Americanise it is by using the word Candy in it.
it was awful, there was little taste in the chocolate and so sweet I chucked most of it in the bin. So this is what the great Cadburys have become.

Even Nestle does a better job these days, Oh well back to lindt.

I have not forgiven them for changing the Dairy Milk chocolate in the Cadbury Cream Eggs to the normal stuff!

I kept hearing now and then that Irish Dairy Milk uses the "original" recipe before Cadbury were taken over, is that still true?

Lets face it, Cadburys was never the best chocolate in the first place, but since Kraft took over its just awful. They are clearly using cheaper ingredients or methods in production.

I wish there was a decent British brand that wasn't hideously expensive.

It's never been amazing chocolate though, Cadbury's bars are just something you pick up for a quick snack if you're out and about or to pop in your lunchbox for pudding and for that they're nice enough and serve a purpose. If I want nice chocolate or something a bit special I'll look elsewhere, Hotel Chocolat for example.

I'm pretty sure they're not referring to the chocolate as candy and I've never known popping candy be known as anything other than popping candy.

Yes, I'm aware of what it is, I've had one. The OP seemed to be suggesting that them using the term "Candy" was Americanised but I was saying that all it refers to is the fact that the bar contains popping candy, which I'm not aware of another name for.

I have found that some Dairy Milk products still taste good - at least to my taste buds, such as the classic standard Dairy Milk bar. However I did have an easter egg a couple of years back that was utterly disgusting. The chocolate was rubbery, didn't 'snap', even after being in the fridge and had a very sour after-taste.

Wasn't there a programme on Channel 4 recently (within the last couple of years) about Cadbury, and the fact that some products are made here in the UK and some in Poland. Something about the recipe being the same for each country but perhaps not necessarily the same quality of ingredients?

I haven't noticed one jot of difference in taste.
Sizes of bars have gotten smaller, but that's across the board.

Cadbury is still my chocolate of choice for both eating straight and for cooking.

I don't eat a lot of chocolate but i must say i ain't noticed any difference in the taste either.
I have often wondered why they make the bars smaller instead of just leaving them the same size and putting the price up a little. Everyone knows prices increase for most products as time goes on.

I have found myself eating Cadbury less and less in recent years because I now find it is quite sweet, the "new" produce they bring out adds to the sweetness with sickly fillings. It's a shame as I did used to enjoy it but Kraft have ruined it. .

I buy supermarket own brands, 200g bars. They've not got smaller. Still 200g.

When it was first released in the 70s it was called SPace Dust

Fair enough, a bit before my time that! I recall having it in the late 80s and early 90s and knowing it as Popping Candy. Whenever you see it anywhere on TV these days it's always referred to as Popping Candy.

No doubt in my mind that since Kraft got their hands on it, Cadburys chocolate has changed for the worse. The taste has changed, it ain't 'a glass-and-a-half' of milk anymore (if it ever was!) & like everything else, all but the price has got smaller! But having eaten Cadburys as a youngster the taste has definitely deteriorated to the point I barely buy it these days.

I miss the olden days and buying it at the railway station.

I really can't understand why anybody would even think of buying Cadbury's chocolate when both Aldi and Lidl sell far cheaper, infinitely better quality own brands which blow it out of the water.

Have always preferred Galaxy tbh but also buy Tesco or Asda own make bars. At about £1 for 200g they're far better value.

I do miss Cadburys Turkish though.

I used to love Cadburys Fruit and Nut but now the chocolate is dreadful. The best chocolate I have found is Aldi Moser Roche (not the Chocuer range). I also am really addicted to M&S Cherry Liquers at 3 boxes for £6 - and I wonder why I deserve to have such a big bottom!

They put in a lot of milk because milk is cheaper than cocoa butter.

Probably because they prefer the taste of Cadbury?
Not that difficult to understand really.
