Probably because they prefer the taste of Cadbury?
Not that difficult to understand really. |

I have to say I've not notoced any chamge in the taste of Cadbury's chocolate. It's still my preferred choice. As others have remarked, the sizes are smaller but the chocolate tastes the same.
I do miss he purple foil you used to get on a bar of Dairy Milk. There was something wonderful about sliding your nail across and tearing through the foil, then snapping off a big chunk of chocolate. |

Cadburys is shite. Divine chocolate is good - palm oil free.

That's the bit that's hard to understand.
I do not like Brussels sprouts but I don't find it hard to understand that other people like them. This is because I have observed that not everyone is the same. Goodness, this is basic stuff. |

Your Brussels sprouts comparison only works if you're talking about preferring poor quality ones to better ones, which you're not. Not liking Brussels sprouts or chocolate themselves is easy to understand. |

It's what you're brought up with, isn't it? I've been eating Cadbury's chocolate since I was little and I'm used to it. I much prefer the taste to posh chocolate.

I prefer chocolate that has been improved (in my view) by the manufacturers adding milk and sugar. None is 'better' than the other, it is merely different, unless you are a sneering food snob of course. |

Cadburys has tasted of crap since being taken over by American company Mondelez. Hardly surprising I guess considering all American chocolate tastes of vomit.
Boycot - hit them where it hurts. |

Gave our box of Milk Tray away to the in-laws! Nestle Dairy Box is the favoured choice now.

i am sure they have got worse if that is possible, I have never been a great fan of their Chocalte even before they was taken over, but I noticed that they have got worse once Kraft got their hands on them. Anyway yesterday I decided to buy some again, something called jelly popping Candy shells, shows how Americanise it is by using the word Candy in it.
it was awful, there was little taste in the chocolate and so sweet I chucked most of it in the bin. So this is what the great Cadburys have become. Even Nestle does a better job these days, Oh well back to lindt. |

I'm chuffed to find this thread, as this subject has come to my attention recently.
I do remember hearing some rumblings about them changing the dairy milk recipe, but I'm not a huge chocolate junky so it passed over me really. But I am quite partial to Wispa Bites. I presume the recipe change has now filtered down to all products containing cadbury chocolate? The change isn't huge, but I definitely noticed it. Not on the initial bite, but only once it has dissolved and coated your tongue, teeth and roof of the mouth. Whereas cadbury's of old had a pure creamy taste and mouth feel, I can detect a slight oily note both in the flavour and texture. Slight, but noticeable and definitely not as pleasant as it used to be. What did they do, replace cocoa butter with palm oil or something? I'm voting with my feet. I always liked galaxy chocolate so have switched that now, and thankfully it still tastes just as I remembered. |

The company that took cadbury's over changed the recipe and ruined a very popular brand. The bar of cadbury's milk that I bought after the takeover tasted too sweet with not much depth of flavour. Cr-p and I've never bought it since.

I'm not aware of them changing the recipe for Dairy Milk. I know there was some fuss about them using a different type of chocolate for Creme Eggs - but I don't remember them changing the recipe of their other chocolate bars. They changed the sizes, but I can't say I've noticed a change in the taste.
The bars are smaller, but all brands continue to shrink their bar sizes. |

Anyone notice Cadbury's Caramel eggs have gone back to the older foil design so they're purple/gold just saying "Caramel" and not "Dairy Milk Caramel" or something like that?
I hope they havent changed the recipe of these, they always used Dairy Milk chocolate in the eggs

I quite agree. The recipe for Dairy Milk hasn't changed - it's just imagination based on the resentment of the Kraft takeover.
The bars are smaller, but all brands continue to shrink their bar sizes. I think they have done something to be honest, because it is certainly worse than it was before the kraft invasion. |

If that is true then why do their chocolate seem to taste worse then it did before? I have never been a great fan of their chocolate anyway, but now it seems to be sweeter and have less taste if that is possible.
I think they have done something to be honest, because it is certainly worse than it was before the kraft invasion. I don't see why Kraft (or Mondelez as they are now) would change the taste anyway. They might want to make it with cheaper ingredients - but they're not going to change it for change's sake. I doubt they're evangelical missionaries for American-tasting chocolate. Presumably they'd keep the same taste that made it popular in the first place. |
