Anyone guess what our present will be. My guess would be new boxes and more interactivity. Maybe a new channel. Quest would be the one I would pick since it has Sport on it. What you think Santa is going to bring us.

SetANTA won't bring anything to FreeSat!

Can't think of anything really outstanding that they could add. Perhaps UKTV could bring Dave to Freesat but that's really about it.

Thinking of the channels which are still missing from Freesat compared to Freeview, i.e. Dave, Quest and 4Music, I can't see anything other than 4Music possibly appearing.

I personally think that this year there won't be anything. Maybe some obscure FTV moving to FTA but that really is it

Yes CNN HD is a strong possibility I guess as that is broadcasting FTA.

Other HD varients will depend on the contracts they have elsewhere as we always hear that they wouldn't exist if if wasn't for the subs from Sky.
CH4 +1HD along with 4/7HD would be nice, but then they were created due to Channel 4's commitments for Freeview COM 7/8 were they not so not sure they will appear?

I'd hardly call CNN HD a Christmas present though!

That's definitely Mr Scooge's idea of a winter warmer.

Looking past the channels (or their HD variants) which are clearly tied to long term Sky/BT contracts is there anything actually worth adding?

Dave, Home, Quest and Sony TV would be nice along with CNN HD.

If I was being a fantasist then ITV2-4 HD along with E4 HD and Film4 HD but can't see any of them going FTA. Saying that if I said Really, Yesterday and Drama would be FTA by Christmas this time last year I'd be laughed at!

Remember a few months ago when someone said they spotted Dave FTA.
Dave and Home better go FTA.
And quest would be awesome but we all know that's not going to happen.

Ye I still think Dave and home will go FTA but yes I also agree this time last year people would have shot me down if I said uktv joining freesat.....

And itv 2 / 3 / 4 will when there deal with sky ends cos they will probably just change them for SD versions.

Sky will do another deal to block the HD versions of the ITV channels when the time comes, in much the same way as the deal was done with Channel4 to keep us from getting the HD versions of More4, E4 and Film4. As for Dave, UKTV told me last year that they had no plans to have Dave on Freesat, so I think it extremely unlikely that we'll see the SD version of the channel, let alone the HD flavour.

I still think it will either be nothing at all or just a bunch of minority channels.
No high profile ones.

Euronews has left Freesat, I thing there is more chance of Home coming as it basically really with a different name.
