It is certainly not Freesat's fault and right now, I can fully understand why given the unpredictable and uncertain economic outlook right now why UKTV would not seek to disengage itself from any current channel deals with Sky.

Some TV's can receive both Freeview and FTA satellite transmissions, meaning no need for a box at all (unless you want to record).

Freesat doesn't and shouldn't exist to get channels.

Freesat is a simple service to list FTA channels on a 7 day EPG that can afford to be listed on their EPG!?!

The notion that freesat should give channels discounts is wasteful and leads to freesat not covering their costs!

It is also illegal - the whole system must be non-discriminatory and equal for all under the EPG regulations.

?????

It's an EPG, hardly something worthy of been called 'awesome'

It's considerably more convenient than using an FTA box, but nothing 'awesome' about it.

Some TV's have twin tuners allowing the user to record one channel while watching another. Then you have TV's like the the Panasonic AX800 series, this TV pushes the boundaries further by having twin Freesat HD and twin Freeview HD tuners.

A much better organised EPG of any platform for the most viewed UK channels, all of which are on Freesat.

Thats where we'll disagree then.
And M60 hit the nail on the head with regards to the organisational nature of the EPG.
Look at the Freeview and Sky EPG, both staggering messes.
Freesat not. In my book, makes it awesome

That's nothing to do with freesat though. More down to regional advertising and such covered by the SD channel.

You're obviously VERY easily impressed - or don't understand what 'awesome' means

Maybe it's FreeSat who have been naughty and haven't got a present

Personally id be happy to have Clubland TV back, I now it's on virgin media now but they've put it behind an tv 'app' that takes 5 minutes to load.

That and Amazon Instant video / Blinkbox.

Freesat have just emailed out an advent calendar.

Perhaps one of the days will reveal this year's Christmas present?

Unless the advent calendar itself is the Christmas present

Clubland TV became a linear channel on Virgin Media channel 345 at the beginning of November

It's still a pay channel and the others are still via a red button app.

Again, it's not Freesat's fault because the various broadcasting groups have to want to put their channels on Freesat in the first place because it's become economically advantageous for them to do so.

It's less of a loss since a lot of Dave and Quest content is available online to watch for free.

Yes, and although it's not strictly Freesat, the Technomate HD COMBO is a combined digital terrestrial and free to air digital satellite receiver: http://store.yourdigitalhome.co.uk/s...ers/6900D.html

That receiver is useless for Freeview HD channels - it only has a DVB-T tuner and not a DVB-T2 one.
For a quarter of the price of that one you can get an Openbox V8S combo - DVB-S2, DVB-T2 tuners plus will receive IPTV
