EE - Lee Carter suicide/depression thread
I can't seem to find it, but if it was deleted I'd like to say something.
Those who alerted it, think for a moment what it means when you stifle discussion about the issues of depression and suicide. Perhaps the title could have been worded better, but speaking as someone who lost a child to suicide, it's really important that we don't keep it hidden away. We should feel that depression has a voice, it needs to be heard to remove the stigma that prevents so many from getting help before it's too late. There were some excellent comments on that thread, a bit sad that it's gone. |

I haven't been on this forum for ages, so missed the whole thing. If there was a thread that was deleted, I can guess why.
Re the story line, I hate it. Actually, let me correct that - I hate the acting. The portrayal of Lee's depression is, imo, abysmal. Depression doesn't equal permanent glum, expressionless face. And Whitney's fawning is vomit-inducing. |

The thread title was something like "I hope Lee Carter kills himself" or "commits suicide", I can't recall the exact wording. But the OP meant that it would allow for some character development for Mick and Linda, and it would bring to light an important discussion about depression. Someone thought that an attempted suicide would be a better storyline because they could address the problem of seeking out help, or highlight what help IS available for those suffering. I agreed with them.

I have been discussing matters relating to this SL in the Episode Threads as this relates to me as I have depression myself and been worse back in the summer though I managed to get help as I have support in place.

After tonight's episode, I'm even more convinced we are going to see Lee commit suicide. Lee loves Whitney to much to just leave her, and after seeing how he is trying to hide his depression, it's just going to get worse.

Such a shame that after over 2 years we finally see some deeper delving into Lee Carter, now that it is too late. The story is truly sad and though DBH is still not top acting you do feel the pain.
I was happy they finally showed some real working place outside AS. Shame Lee will be going, i would rather have had Stacey written out |

Out of the Carter Brothers Johnny under Ted Riley is the weaker character. Danny-Boy Hatchard has really stepped it up with storyline.
I have a feeling the guy at the call centre will be involved in Lee's leaving |

I was the one who made that thread. My wording could have definitely been better concerning the title. My apologies. Yes my title was bad but to alert it? Ridiculous. Excluding all of the posts that were calling my title a disgrace in that thread, there were some really fantastic replies on the actual topic at hand that well and truly needed to be discussed.
Here is a cached version of the second page of that thread. Page 1 won't work however. http://webcache.googleusercontent.co...&ct=clnk&gl=us |

Is working in a call centre something to be looked down upon?! He's working in the city in a nice, open plan office with his own work station.
I was expecting him to have no job at all |
