Personally I'd find a waltzathon much more interesting as that requires real floorcraft skill.”

Wouldn't the waltzathon be much harder for male celebrities, having to lead their partner around the floor, and avoid collisions?

The female pros can backlead to a certain extent I'm sure, and I would guess the judges would be harsher on male pros for bad floorcraft. But either way it would be more entertaining!

ChaCha technique is difficult for most celebs to learn and few enjoy the dance. So if they must have a 'thon, stick with the Swing-a-thon. There's a historical basis for Swing dance marathons, and Swing dancing is at least fun.

Agreed.

I don't want Strictly picking up any ideas from US Dancing With the Stars. That's become a truly foul programme.

I've never understood the charge that the Rigathons are used to manipulate the scoreboard. The judges are the ones who create the scoreboard. If they wanted to "manipulate" it they'd just give out dodgy marks in the first place, it's not as though they're above it.

Is week 10 not early for an "-athon"? Do you think they will have some other time fillers after that?

I'm guessing :

Week 8 : Constant Talk About Blackpool Week
Week 9 : Blackpool Week
Week 10 : Rigathon Week
Week 11 : Theme Week
Week 12 : Semi Finals
Week 13 : Final

With them going to Two Dances Per Couple in either Week 11 or Week 12.
