Happy with most of the results. Some weird ones that I don't like at all but expected to qualify. Annoyingly those are the ones that will do well too because they'll be carried by a few high scores.
Doing my own little end of year project ... My Top 50 songs which will be posted 5 a day from the 22nd to the 31st. Got it down to 100 but god knows how I will half it.For those interested, here are the number of songs by player:

Right, so I still need to sort out bits before we can move onto the next round.
So anyone that is still available for hosting a round over Christmas and New Year, let me know and tomorrow evening/Wednesday I will get back to you with the plan. ![]() pretty happy with the results but im sure all of my entries chosen will not make it beyond round 2. |

Thoughts on the qualifiers:
France: I enjoyed all of the French songs so I'm not sad this qualified. Monaco: Lost Can't say I'm surprised about the winner.Russia: The worst entry won here, really sad for Stand By You and What's It Gonna Be?, two much better entries imo. Scotland: Not surprised by this either, wasn't expecting Wasn't My Fault to get it after it's controversies. ![]() Slovakia: I prefer this to my own entry so yay. Svalbard: Yay <3 I prefer this to Golden Ticket so I'm happy this made it, thank you all for the points. Tasmania: This was underrated in the actual contest so it's nice to see it avenged. Albania: Ew. Andorra: Slightly better, both were a bit forgettable though. Armenia: You'll see my opinion on this soon, but let's say I'm very pleased. Croatia: Yay for this, much better than the other song. Aland Islands: Not surprised or disappointed. Australia: ^ Belgium: ^ England: ^ Estonia: ^ Finland: ^ Georgia: ^ (not even sad that this beat my own entry) Germany: Now this was a surprise! I like the song, but You & I was much better. Gibraltar: Definitely the best entry here. Gotland: My least favourite but I'm not surprised. Israel: Her better entry and not disappointed. Kazakhstan: Not surprised, love all of the Kazakh entries this year so I'm happy. Liechtenstein: Another one I'm happy with. Lithuania: By far the best entry here. Netherlands: Mehhh, would've preferred Hello Love here. New Zealand: More meh, it's nice but there were better. Norway: All of thengp's robbed entries being avenged <3 San Marino: By far the best entry here. Spain: Decent. Sweden: This is nice but much preferred the Amanda Jenssen song. Wales: Yay, thank you all. <3 Malta: Not surprised and quite pleased that Lauren gets the chance to do well for Malta again as this could be her last DSFE entry. Serbia: Mika's better entry won here. Ukraine: Game Over </3 This has grown on me though. Algeria: Happy this won. Montenegro: Thank you <3 |

37. Slovakia Slovakia providing a small ray of hope for Eastern Europe, and Celeste Buckingham was barely involved! Although tbh some other countries did that better. I'm not sure this was Slovakia's best year ~ever~ (maybe it would be if Horou had won ) but it was definitely a pleasant one.10 This Time − Lina Mayer ( Pooley ) Quote:
Lina Mayer is incredibly basic.
9 Hello − Celeste Buckingham ( AxG )Quote:
Celeste needs to remember how to release good songs.
8 V Dobrom Aj V Zlom − Zuzana Smatanová ( MiesBouwman )Quote:
Apart from Horou I just don't rate Zuzana rly, even Miesta, which I also sent this year, is dull.
7 Na Bieleho Koňa − Kristína ( jag02010 )6 Smile − Emma Drobná ( phill363 ) 5 Rieka − Miro Jaroš ( ChickenFromKiev ) 4 Láska Bombová − Kristína ( andreas_esc ) 3 Ta Ne − Kristína ( thengp12 ) Quote:
I had this perception Slovakia was more diverse this year, but lol no. Kristína is remarkably consistent as a positive force though.
2 Cool as You − Peter Aristone & Mel C ( AcerBen )Quote:
Mel C stampeding her way across Europe <3
1 Money in My Soul − King Shaolin ( mikabv )Quote:
So I know the verses are... not good, but the chorus is such an ear worm!! Going from 4th to 18th but it is in my top 50:

France: Best of the bunch by quite a bit, expected it to make it
Monaco: Léa Castel seemed like a clear winner here to me, so I'm a bit surprised, although this one wasn't bad either Russia: Best song won, although none of them were really outstanding Scotland: Christie I liked Nina Nesbitt too though so it's okay. Slovakia: The worst one made it here, but I'm not surprised, it was overrated in the actual contest too. King Shaolin though... probably one of my favourite songs I sent in this year. Svalbard: Miia was the best by miles, happy with that Tasmania: Don't think I even voted in this NF lol, must've passed me by. Don't care much for the song. Albania: By far the best of the two, surprised it made it though Andorra: Both were solid, but yeah, Ruth was a bit better Armenia: So pleased I don't have to listen to that Sirusho song ever again Croatia: Yup, this was good Aland Islands: Epic ![]() Australia: Happy here too, definitely the best Belgium: Would've rather Emma & Milow but this was good too England: Pretty obvious really, but again by far the best Estonia: Just so relieved it's not Kerli, shame about Wurffel though Finland: Yup, this one's still pretty great Georgia: Rati was far better imo, but I expected Wayside to make it Germany: Yeah, the first real surprise, was my least favourite of the four. Neele or Hedley should've won Gibraltar: All four songs here were amazing so I can't complain, although this was my 0-pointer ![]() Gotland: Very happy about this, love that song Israel: Yeah, this was her better one, but I still think Inbal should've made it Kazakhstan: Again, not a surprise but it's another song I'll never understand the success of. That spaceship song was the only option for Kazakhstan if you ask me. Liechtenstein: Liked this (but Sara Hartman )Lithuania: None of these were really that good, but Colours of Bubbles got my 5 Netherlands: Another 3-pointer of mine, Lorren was the best here imo but I liked that one too New Zealand: No surprise, was by far the best Norway: Generic shite, no one appreciates real quality music. RIP Elsa and Emilie San Marino: One of the highest quality songs this year, should've won its original contest too Spain: Good bit of fun, no doubt it won (ha I can sort of rhyme )Sweden: Very happy for this, as it's my only entry left that actually has a chance Yeah, they should win ![]() Wales: The only NF I was in where I didn't give my entry top points: because I like Lion that much Glad it wonMalta: Pretty obvious result again, happy with it Serbia: I preferred the Nina song, but I still won, so hey ![]() Ukraine: None of these were actually good, so as long as it wasn't Aelyn I was okay with the result Algeria: A nice surprise that this won Montenegro: No doubts here: the best Montenegrin entry since Htela Bih Oh, and thanks for the first with King Shaolin Alex

Yw mika, I am sorry the curse of DSFE still plagues you. And Quote:
That spaceship song was the only option for Kazakhstan if you ask me.
Thrilled to be able to offer this service to everyone, although Izin Korem rode the Kazakh pop wave at the right time and I do enjoy it a lot.36. Switzerland Searching Switzerland was NOT a fun experience and Jack Savoretti was a lifeboat I found just before I drowned in the sea of toneless waste available. Some others had better luck than me and sent pearls! Unfortunately there are also some oil spills: 11 Once & Only − 77 Bombay Street ( mikabv ) Quote:
Sorry to take you from first to last, mika, this was not planned. A better quality video does seem to exist but the one on the wikia is not available in the UK anymore.
10 Shuffle the Cards − Jaël ( AxG )Quote:
This looked dangerously like a finalist but thankfully was disqualified before we were made to listen to it again.
9 We Were Here − BOY ( shar_ds )8 Stay Young − Jan Oliver ( bee.fear ) Quote:
Still waiting for him to release more material, when??
7 Pixels − Aliose ( jackel1234 )Quote:
How would Alyson Stoner have actually done? We will never know.
6 Kick Im Augenblick − Beatrice Egli ( thengp12 )Quote:
Her weaponised OTT positivity has no business being present in 2016 but other than that the song is just ok.
5 Drive All Night − Anna Känzig ( ChickenFromKiev )4 Imagine − Angie Ott ( GreekFan ) 3 Lighthouse − ICF Worship ( Lurker62 ) Quote:
All very fine.
2 On Fire − Stefanie Heinzmann ( Gwen 404 )Quote:
Sometimes I think I enjoy more of Gwen's entries than she herself does, as I prefer this to In the End > 1 Shine in the Light − Anna Rossinelli ( Yugimuto1 )
Quote:
I like when songs are waiting in the wings for a year or two before someone realises they haven't been sent, and this was worth the wait.

Once and Only is beautiful
One of my favourite songs by my favourite band.Is that only because of you being unable to watch the video it's that low? If so, here's a bunch of different links: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f207qaQPmhE (I think this is the one on the wiki) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2Mbba82_gdU https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S4-0FlVI13s https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iqsBLbZHys8 |

France - Marina was robbed.
Monaco - <3 Russia - Gave this 0, but they were all great. Polina was robbed however. Scotland - <3 Slovakia - Kristina was robbed. Do still like this though. Svalbard - Did give Julie 5, but Dynasty is awesome too. Tasmania - <3 Albania - WTF? ![]() Andorra - Both good, but yay Ruth. Armenia - Sirusho was robbed. Croatia - Gave this 5, but can't remember how it goes... Alan's Islands - Would've preferred #GlorifiedDouchebag, but I can live with this too. Australia - Sia was robbed. Gave the winner 3 but again can't remember it. Belgium - Billie was robbed. England - I didn't mind Birdy's dancier number. Estonia - Any choice would've been great, but Kerli or Wurffel would've been better. ![]() Finland - Katea was robbed. Georgia - Genuinely thought mine was the best of this dross bunch, sorry. ![]() Germany - <3 Gibraltar - <3 Gotland - How did the others lose to this? ![]() Israel - <3 Kazakhstan - Voted Zhanar above my own. <3 Liechtenstein - Wanted Elaiza, but Rykka will do. Lithuania - Monika and Evelina were the best of a terrible bunch. Netherlands - Goodbye Love. Dutch Nightwish is passable but again mostly a terrible bunch to pick through.New Zealand - TNAF were robbed. Norway - Happy with that, a good bunch. San Marino - Annalisa was robbed. Spain - Rebeca was robbed, although I do like Sofia. Sweden - Wanted Time, but like this as well. Wales - Just glad Shake Shake No didn't make it. Malta - Any would've been fine, but glad it was this one. Serbia - As above. Ukraine - <3 Algeria - Lamiya was robbed. Montenegro - Split the points between the two, would've preferred Tabu though. |

OK, so I am good to go with the QFs tomorrow. Remember we have 4 QFs with 22 songs in each. The top 12 in each will qualify for the SFs.
How long do you guys think we should leave each QF/SF open? If someone is happy to host the first QF tomorrow, then let me know. Then I can dish out the other QFs/SFs as we come to them.

35. Netherlands Another fallen star. This is the first year the Netherlands weren't in the top 3 at all. In fact, they were only in the top 10 once! What is going on?? 12 Not Giving Up on Love − Armin van Buuren vs. Sophie Ellis Bextor ( thengp12 ) Quote:
Another iconic mess from the beginning of thengp's career.
11 Till It Hurts − Yellow Claw ft. Ayden ( EuroFoxi )Quote:
This is almost okay until your worst fears are confirmed at 1:04
10 Take the Money & Run − O'G3NE ( phill363 )Quote:
They just come across as a busted version of other bands i prefer.
9 We Are One − Rondé ( yoshi94 )8 The Game of Love − Lorrčn ( March Mornings ) 7 To the River − Causes ( TerryP ) 6 Even − Son Mieux ( March Mornings ) 5 Run Away Together − Anouk ( Lurker62 ) Quote:
And then we're stuck in this MOR area for a bit, though these are all at least pleasant and Anouk is Anouk.
4 Hello Love − Celine Cairo ( Gwen 404 )Quote:
Reminded me more of Rondé than Rondé's other song.
3 Dragons − Démira ( Yugimuto1 )2 Fountain − Démira ( Yugimuto1 ) Quote:
Démira was The Netherlands' quirky girl sword and shield this year, gj Yugi.
1 Whole World is Watching − Within Temptation ft. Piotr Rogucki ( GreekFan )Quote:
But as is traditional, Within Temptation were the army on the horizon, even if Piotr wouldn't be my first choice of duet partner.
+ another top 50 song!

I'm up for hosting the first QF. Did you mean today or tomorrow though, because you posted in the weird few hours where nobody can tell.
![]() Will post more of my countdown today too, food poisoning is a bitch but thankfully that's gone now.

![]() Will post more of my countdown today too, food poisoning is a bitch but thankfully that's gone now. ![]() I was thinking the schedule could look a little something like this: QF1: 21st-27th QF2: 23rd-29th QF3: 27th-2nd QF4: 29th-4th SF1: 4th-10th SF2: 7th-13th Final: 13th-19th Something like that anyway give or take, we wouldn't need to wait until the 19th to open the new contest, we can open it before then and allow sign ups and song searches then start the contest proper from the 19th once this finishes. Let me know what you all think and you can start putting your name against a round your want to host. Remembering that CFK has already stated he can start QF1 tonight and Alexos will do the final. CFK if you are still happy to do tonight then let me know and I will send you the draw for QF1. |

Thanks for those offers. So we have QF4 and SF1 and 2 left open.
I know Gwen said previously she would host and Carlisle sent me a PM saying the same thing. So it's really just one more host I am looking for. If someone is interested then come forward and let me know which round you want. Also Gwen and Carlisle if you let me know when you can host that would be great. I will get everyone's QF draw sent to them in due course.

33. Jersey If you ever think you'll do well with Jersey/England, THINK AGAIN. You will probably flop. You have to carefully navigate the narrow path between 'too obv' and 'this is shit' and that is very precarious. 7 Not the One − Molly McQueen ( Steven_P ) Quote:
I would have enjoyed this when I was 14 and closeted.
6 T-Shirt Weather − Circa Waves ( mikabv )Quote:
This type of music is just not Alexos music.
5 Devil's Resting Place − Laura Marling ( nunaney )Quote:
Eventually becomes a good song but I have already aged several years by that time.
4 Red Wine − Ivy & Gold ( AxG )Quote:
I will forever be slightly forlorn that Ivy & Gold's, imo, best songs were shelved in favour of their lesser material.
3 Alarm − Anne-Marie ( GreekFan )Quote:
Almost really good and memorable, but the chorus is a plateau.
2 Nerve − Don Broco ( Gwen 404 )Quote:
DRIPPING with Gwen, only narrowly beaten by...
1 Send My Love to Your New Lover − Adele ( Lurker62 )Quote:
Controversiadele <3 Everyone abandoned this in the Final but she still made it

![]() I'll take QF4 ![]() .So you can have QF4 and that means Gwen and Carlisle can decide between them for the SFs. Sorry if anyone did not manage to get to host a round. I had originally attended for there to be more rounds, but things took longer then expected. My plans for changes for next year should see an increase in the rounds, so more people can help host next year.

Maim ♔ 22: Lebanon Omar Dean ft Sophia Hope - Runaway Love Playlist Please vote in normal ESC format (12, 10, 8-1). The deadline for voting is Tuesday 27th December at 7pm, and results will follow shortly after. You may vote for your own entry/entries. The top 12 songs will progress to the semi finals, while the bottom 10 will have done disgrace to their country and never be seen again. Please be careful with countries that have two entries in this quarter final (such as New Zealand and Svalbard). If you would like to be 100% sure of the country you are giving points to, you can specify the song. (I believe anyone can vote, although there may be restrictions such as only those who have participated in DSFE (this year or otherwise) so I may need to be corrected on that) |

46th place: Turkey
Turkey doesn't have a problem with the size of its music scene, with plenty of songs to actually choose from. The problem with Turkey is that with every 100 songs found, you'll be lucky if 2 are listenable. I'm surprised ethnicity links aren't used more, doesn't Adele has some sort of link to Turkey? 12th: Omur Gedik - Ask Mi Dedin (DSFE 78) 11th: Nil Karaibrahimgil - Hadi Insallah (DSFE 79) 10th: Kamaval ft Iskender Paydas - Gitme (DSFE 74) 9th: Years & Years - Meteorite (DSFE 83) 8th: Lea Michele - Battlefield (DSFE 84) 7th: Edis - Olmamis Mi? (DSFE 81) 6th: Simge - Mis Mis (DSFE 75) 5th: Reva - Gokce (DSFE 73) 4th: Anoushka Shankar ft Alev Lenz - Land of Gold (DSFE 82) 3rd: Derya Ulug - Ulug Okyanus (DSFE 80) I enjoyed this actually. I listened to it about 10 minutes ago and can't remember how it goes now but I enjoyed it at the time. 2nd: Elif - Als ich fortging (DSFE 77) No surprises this got the best result of the year for Turkey (and beat the majority of German entries too). Pleasant and dark at the same time. 1st: Atiye - Abrakadabra (DSFE 76) This was robbed. </3 Pretty much the best that Turkish pop has to offer. Average Score: 6.58 45th place: Portugal Portugal seems like it could have a nice music industry but is cruel and disappointing. Lots of average music produced which unfortunately reflects in their entries this year. 12th: Panic At The Disco - Death Of A Bachelor (DSFE 83) 11th: Jamiroquai - Blue Skies (DSFE 76) 10th: Ana Moura - Dia De Folga (DSFE 73) 9th: Nathalie Pires - Diário (DSFE 78) 8th: Tynisha Keli - Shatter'd (DSFE 75) 7th: Shawn Mendes ft Camila Cabello - I Know What You Did Last Summer (DSFE 74) 6th: Dengaz ft Matay - Dizer Que Nao (DSFE 77) 5th: Ana Free - Killing Kind (DSFE 84) 4th: Leonor Andrade - Strong For Too Long (DSFE 81) 3rd: Isaura - Eight (DSFE 82) I don't know whether I gave this 8/10 because I like the song or because of the jokes but we'll go for the former. Songs like this don't tend to do well but I liked it, especially as it was a great find for Portugal. 2nd: Caroline Costa - Ailleurs (DSFE 80) Nice, sweet song made ever more appealing due to the French language. 1st: April [Ivy] - Be OK (DSFE 79) Another song that almost got a 10 from me, I know songs like this don't really do well either (or at least didn't at this point) but I really love this, and I was half expecting it to be a top 10 finisher. I admire the risk taken by Yoshi here. Average Score: 6.58 |

Can't say I'm surprised about the winner.

but it is in my top 50:
