Previously on Carlisle's Next Top Song of 2016...
Spoiler
Carlisle's Top 50 Songs of 2016 - 10 to 5 10 - Turkey: Edis - Olmamış Mı? - 9th in Andorra la Vella - MiesBouwman I have a thing for intense songs and this defo fits the bill. The first time I listened I was really over it but by the time the Andorra final came around I was its biggest fan. The camerawork & the dancing in the chorus REALLY made this for me and then the beat is so intense ergh it's so perfect. What makes it even better is reading the lyrics translated like this one and then watching the video and it just does not correlate at all. 9 - Norway: Aurora - Conqueror - 1st in Pisa - Jackel1234 Spoiler alert: This is my favourite winner of the year. Aurora has such a lovely voice and has basically saved the 'quirky girl' in my eyes because I was getting SO fed up of indie girls with quirky voices & lots of electronic beats in the background but she's so innocent and sweet and I can't help but love her music. Some of her videos are a bit of a 'modern art' mess but this one is fine. All around great song & obvious winner. 8 - Faroe Islands: Ivarsson, Bang & Neumann - Shine - 11th in Tromso - Gwen 404 I'll be COMPLETELY honest. I think that this has an inflated appeal to me because I have the biggest crush on Neumann (the one with brown hair). The song is a bit pop by numbers but it's really cute and that appeals to me. I'm sad they disbanded after releasing this (Only The Young throwback ) but atleast they leave this masterpiece in their legacy. When this first got entered I was a bit obsessed and watched ALL their X Factor DK videos and they are literally so good. Writing this brings back ALL the emotions about how heartbroken I am they broke up. (His full name is Mathias Neumann and he is super good (and charismatic) - Here he is covering Alex Vargas7 - Iran: Mahan Moin - Elysium - 6th in Andorra la Vella - GreekFan I'm the biggest idiot because I somehow managed to sleep on this throughout its contest then I relistened during its CofC qualification round and I was BLOWN AWAY by how amazing that chorus is and here it is sat in number 7. She needs to go back to Melodifestivalen with a song like this blimey. 6 - Ireland: Wyvern Lingo - Letters To Willow - 7th in Andorra la Vella - Steven P Whilst 6th place in Andorra got my 7th place of the year, 7th place in Andorra gets my 6th place in the year. I'm still sad that this (and Walking on Cars just for you CFK) were ROBBED from this years CofC because this song is literally so good. The lead singers big blue eyes stare into my soul but the beat and the lyrics and then just the whole feel of this song is so fab. This is the right kind of edgy, guys. Take notes from Steven !! Eeep down to Top 5 which will be posted in under 24 hours !! Good luck to Gwen, Mies, Nunaney, Terry & Thenpg as one of you will get the HONOUR of being the first winner of Carlisle's Next Top Song xixi |

They have been assigned letters (because numbers are confusing ). If you would like to be 100% sure of the country you are giving points to though, you can specify the song. - Anyone can vote and is strongly encouraged to. ![]() |

Gonna do this in an easier way now but hopefully it'll still be some kind of fun, I want to finish my countdown and I'm only at #40 so I should get a move on.
40th place: Canada Not really cared for any of Canada's entries this year but they've all been 'nice', which is why they're around the middle. My Entry/Entries: - Emma-Lee - Worst Enemy (DSFE 82) Top Three Entries: 03: Shawn Hook - Sound Of Your Heart (DSFE 81, MiesBouwman) 02: W. Darling - Skeletons (DSFE 78, jag02010) 01: Carly Rae Jepsen - Your Type (DSFE 83, Lisa.B) Average Score: 6.75 39th place: Svalbard I thought Svalbard would be higher but two of their best results were with my own entries (whoops) and there were some not so great entries in there that brought this down. My Entry/Entries: - Miia - Dynasty (DSFE 78) - Highasakite - Golden Ticket (DSFE 83) Top Three Entries: 03: Ine Hoem - Lost Lovers (DSFE 73, andrewdk) 02: Julie Bergan - Arigato (DSFE 80, BethnalGreen) 01: Ina Wroldsen - Lay It On Me (DSFE 77, jag02010) Average Score: 6.78 38th place: Tasmania Baby Australia wasn't as good as normal Australia. My Entry/Entries: - None. Top Three Entries: 03: Jessica Mauboy - This Ain't Love (DSFE 80, phill363) 02: Delta Goodrem - Dear Life (DSFE 78, Yugimuto1) 01: The Veronicas - In My Blood (DSFE 83, thengp12) Average Score: 6.80 37th place: Northern Ireland Surprised this got so high, was basically identical to Tasmania in the scoring patterns. My Entry/Entries: - None. Top Three Entries: 03: Leah McFall - Wolf Den (DSFE 84, MiesBouwman) 02: Hailee Steinfeld ft DNCE - Rock Bottom (DSFE 76, jackel1234) 01: REWS - Shake Shake (DSFE 81, Yugimuto1) Average Score: 6.80 |

I have also been slacking. The last week has been a blur of prosecco and gin, but I hope you all enjoyed celebrating Christmas, New Year, and my birthday! ![]() 24. Poland There are only a handful of truly bad songs left, so at this stage every nation should be proud of its achievements. Poland is the ultimate borderline good/bad country, given that Polish doesn't always sound okay despite the amount of artists available. 2016 was its least impressive year ever in terms of highest placement though oops. 11 Play it For the Girls − Danny Saucedo ( AcerBen ) Quote:
Was AcerBen taking this piss with this? We may never know.
10 Ty I Ja − Monika Lewczuk ( yoshi94 )Quote:
I think this video and song was just an excuse for them to go backpacking in the sun?
9 I Can Feel It − Hey Violet ( jackel1234 )Quote:
I would have enjoyed this when was I was 15
8 Na Pewno − Tabb & Sound’N’Grace ( thengp12 )Quote:
I never really got them. Everyone is just too earnest.
7 Save My Soul − JoJo ( jackel1234 )Quote:
Definitely remember enjoying this more than I do now.
6 Up in the Hill − Brodka ( Greecelove )5 Mała Little Flower − Katy Carr ( Yugimuto1 ) 4 Horses − Brodka ( poshbloke ) Quote:
Brodka is not bad at all, and Mała Little Flower has grown on me so much, it's actually so sad </3
3 The Great Divide − Rebecca Black ( jackel1234 )Quote:
Lol <3
2 Zabiorę Nas − Cleo ( Pooley )Quote:
Her post Eurovision direction is so surprisingly credible!
1 I Shall Rise − Karen O ( jag02010 )Quote:
A slight cheap entry but so many Karen O and Yeah Yeah Yeahs songs pass me by and this one is obviously enhanced by Lara Croft.
