Funny the exact same pattern is happening. Both were in the sing offs weeks 1,2 and 5 and sailed through weeks 2 and 3.

Although I cannot see saraa surviving until week 8 she's certainly nailing the sing offs

The effort she puts into those sing offs are making me warm to her even more. That's what made me eventually like Ruth.

Ruth wasn't in a sing off in week 1...

And no. Ruth is still the queen!

If that was anybody else they would be gone by now. Simon only judges the sing off when it suits him he knows the voting results.

But they're were up against Saara who has also been there 3 times so doesn't count.

But that's the point. For 40D and Saara it was the third time that each of them had been in the bottom three > failed to get saved by the lifeline vote (only happened to Ryan and Sam so far) > sing off

If Saara had been saved instead of any of the other contestants, then you could have argued that an exception was being made for her

Her Majesty Ruth Lorenzo cannot be touched. But Saara is a worthy princess.

I get where the OP is coming from. I've been thinking the same.

Both in the week 2 sing-off
Both blew the competition out of the water in every sing-off
Both safe weeks 3 & 4, experiencing a rare two-week rebound in the vote
Both in the week 5 sing-off and saved
Both powerhouses from abroad

Neither should be measured against the other. Both are exceptional talents who are severely underrated.

Saara is great but Ruth was unbelievable, just remind yourself of her sing off performances.

Purple Rain
Knocking On Heaven's Door

Shame her deal with EMI fell through years back.

You were quite a killer in the sing-offs too surviving against John Adeleye.
It is an honour to have an X Factor queen grace these forums

I wouldn't say Ruth is better than Saara. How do you know that autotune wasn't being used back then for her survival? I've heard Saara sing without, I'm assuming, any autotune and she still has a brilliant voice.

Ruth is far better than saara. Far far better.
Have you listened to ruths performances on you tube recently? You can tell its not auto tuned at all.

I'm not saying that Saara's the best singer out there because there will be some female singers that have vocals that don't need to be auto-tuned at all and border on 'magical'. Saara has fantastic vocals though. A video I found where Ruth is singing and there's definitely no auto-tuning being used (there doesn't seem to be any used anyway). Up to 0:09 on the counter.

Ruth has a great Rock voice that not many female singers are gonna be able to touch.

However I'll give Saara credit for being the most confident in a sing-off that I've probably ever seen on The X Factor.

I remember in Week 2 Ruth had the balls to stand up to Simon about singing Purple Rain, I dont think he let her do it at first but she put her foot down. She was amazing
