The IP7 was a gift and that is the only plus as far as I'm concerned. It has poor battery life and iOS is simply awful in my estimation. I've had an iPad in the past so am no stranger to iOS but had forgotten just how restrictive it can be after using Android, plus it looks terribly dated. My wife is using the iPhone and she' not happy with it at all. You will totally love the Edge - far superior in just about every way - enjoy.

Android on the S7 Edge is very easily customised to your liking, especially by using Nova Launcher, which is free in the Play Store and replaces the standard home screen with a more attractive and usable set up. The paid version of Nova has additional features, which I find useful. |

Clearly you have a different view. However, as I own both phones I feel in a good position to make comment.

![]() It works fine for the average Jane and Joe but it is something of an OS for dummies don't you think? |

You may prefer it but that doesn't mean it's good. It's fast becoming an 'also ran' when compared to Android. Don't be too sad though as you can change to Android at upgrade time.

The iP7 release has to be the biggest non-event stunt Apple has pulled in years. |

Hey, I said it worked fine. Even the most ardent Apple fan would have to admit there has been a distinct lack of innovation at Apple of late, in fact since SJ passed. It used to be that others followed when Apple released a product. It's now Apple that's doing the following.
The iP7 release has to be the biggest non-event stunt Apple has pulled in years. But what doesn't it do, that people other than dummies need it to do on a day to day basis? What sorts of things do you find yourself, on a regular basis, doing on an Android phone that you simply can't do on an iPhone because of the limitations of iOS? Not for the first time, you'd think SJ was plucking revolutionary products out of his backside every tine he went on a stage. In the time he was at Apple, there was the original Mac, the iPod, the iPhone. And the iPad, which at the time was slated by many for just being a big iPhone. Not to mention that 'innovation' often seems to get confused with 'invention'. there is plenty of innovation in Apple products if you look past what something looks like. |

Yes, innovation, SJ, yaddy yaddy.

SJ was very good at 'acquiring' other people's ideas and products then improving them with a keen eye for detail and bringing them to market. I'm afraid TC isn't cut from the same cloth. |

No OS is bad. Ignore the trolls who say otherwise. Both are very good and very feature rich. I bought the missus an S7 Edge for her birthday last thursday, and it is a thing of beauty. She tried both phones and wanted the S7 Edge. I would as well. For me, iphones are a bit boring looks wise in both software and hardware. But it's personal preference. |

Ever heard the saying 'there's none as deaf as those who will not hear'? It's restrictive and non-customisable and that's just for starters.
Your" restrictive and non-customisable" troll could be countered by "IOS just works intuitively and gets it right in almost all cases" - and without needing all the tweaks and options available in Android. I do software development all day and I don't need to play with infinite options on my smartphone at night as well. As for "moving to Android at next upgrade" I have tried it on several handsets and it isn't for me. YMMV Quote:

Third time lucky maybe.... What doesn't iOS do, that you need it to do on a day to day basis? Not counting the Mac, the iPod or the iPhone, could you give a list of half a dozen or so examples of these things that SJ brought to market? |

Had the choice of iP7, S7 edge or S7. Neither would cost me a penny.
Looked into in great detail and chose the Sammy S7. Delighted that I did, the other two both had potential issues that I could not live with, so did the Sammy S6 and iP6 incidentally. No issues at all with my S7 once I got rid of the most annoying of the bloatware (half an hour's job). |

Not that many years ago you would have expected Apple to come up with something like the Surface Studio but not now. Why is that? and don't forget my main computer is an iMac so whatever you think my agenda may be you would be wrong. |

I'm loving my S7 too, great bit of kit. What bloatware did you jettison out of interest?
Pros... The quality of the display is exceptional, sharp and unusually vivid Very fast and slick Readily customised to your liking Good 4G reception Good camera I use quite a few apps which are only available on Android Very nice design/appearance Decent battery life Cons... Holding the phone without touching the edges of the screen takes a bit of getting used to The Samsung TouchWizz home screen is not the most aesthetically pleasing (but can easily be replaced) Compatibility with certain network features eg. EE 4G calling, requires the correct ROM, as opposed to the situation with iOS. |

I can't even remember now, there were loads of "updated apps" notifications though and I just went into app control and ditched everything I wasn't sure I'd want to use as I rarely use apps anyway. Battery life has improved, now up at 3 days though to be fair I'm a light user and turn it off every night.

As a mobile geek, I've got various network related apps. None of them work on iOS. I don't think iOS will release the required information for the apps to work.
