I agree with all the comments people have posted. Lee basically went out there and got a job to make Whitney proud of him. However, it needs to be a two-way street. Surely Whitney could get a job considering she worked in a school? Perhaps as a part-time LSA (providing the government haven't scrapped those) somewhere considering she worked in education? Those brains shouldn't be going to waste.
As for the job Lee is doing, it's not the right environment for the guy. He's suffering with depression has low self-esteem and the cockiness of that Osman chap and his boss show it's a high-pressure environment. I went for a job at one which was more inbound, but in a seperate department (admin) and I am glad I didn't get the job. The agency who I am under are forever advertising positions there - even temporary ones until the Christmas break. Saying that, I think the interviewer didn't like me as I asked too many questions especially about Brexit and it did look like a modelling agency - too many pretty people - an average looking guy like me didn't fit. I dodged a bullet. It's not going to end well, but we should praising SoC for covering workplace bullying and depression. Why is she dressed now like some 1950s American housewife |

The sad thing is Lee can't see Whitney love him, not his job, social status or financial status. She loves him for who he is and how being with him makes her feel loved and safe, which after a lifetime of loss and hardship, not to mention the abuse and bad relationships is a big thing for her. Thats the thing with depression though, it makes it very hard to see things clearly and you get a perceived and skewed view of everything.
Lee would have been better off carrying on flogging fish after Buster cleared off. |

I don't get why he had to big up the job in the first place? Or did the family do that based on the job title? He's a sales executive or something isn't he? Executive doesn't mean much these days, it's used instead of assistant/advisor/analyst

Whitney has never hankered after nice things. She was brought up in poverty and has always been happy to settle for the minimum...the cheap earings, the second hand dress, a weekend away, a home made cake and buffet. It's Lee that's putting all this pressure on himself.
I remember her as a teen when she earned a little money....noticing that Morgan's school trousers no longer fit him and knowing Bianca was broke she went out and bought him new trousers. That's the sort of person she is. And if she knew Lee worked in a call centre she'd be just as proud of him. |

Also, where is Whitney getting all the money to spend? They can't have a joint account, they've only been married 2 minutes. Even If they do Lees lie won't last for long as she'll be able to see his modest wage, and the company they come from?

Lee is a soppy mug and Danny-Boy Hatchard is an awful actor who can only pull one confused/sad/angry face which I get is perfect for a 2d character like Lee.

You don't have to be married to have a joint account
She might not look at the statement to see deposits, just withdraw from it. Money soon won't be there though with the way she's spending the last couple of weeks, albeit only because Lee has said it was okay to. |

Well she could take some responsibility for herself and check the balance! She's acting like it's the 1950's.
I suspect Whit has always harboured these dreams of what her life would be like once she met her dream man and it involved a perfect wedding (which I accept she cost saved on) and having her own place where she could have babies, be a perfect housewife and not work. It's her fairytale ending. |

I've worked in a call centre and it was the most awful job I've ever had other than amazon.

I don't see how his boss was a bully. The boss seemed to present the facts in a neutral manner. Lee lied about the wedding. Had he told the truth, I am sure an arrangement could have been made. Lee being off however meant he was getting sick pay (defrauded, as the boss said), as opposed to someone else being brought in the day which likely would have resulted in more work for Lee's colleagues.

I used to work in the amazon call centre and I thought it was grand. Good money if you reached your targets and the vast majority of people you deal with are very nice. I was taking incoming calls. I reckon cold calling must be hell on earth,
Not exactly the same thing but I've done most Accounting roles and find Purchase Ledger much a better fit thab Credit Control. Badically I'd much rather be the prrson being called to adk when payment is coming than be ringing uo demanding payment and threatening further action, often from small soppliers that simply can't afford to pay quickly. There is also the same hit call and aged debt reduction league in many offices. |

She thinks he has a great high powered job with his own pa in the city.
No more has been said about it but she just thinks he's a high powered stockbroker type now I think. |

It is the worst possible job for someone with depression problems. He should swallow his pride and fess up to his wife and dad. |

It made me laugh in Monday's episode when Whitney said "you're allowed to splash out every now and then" - they've just paid for a wedding!
![]() And then when Linda mentioned about them being in the honeymoon period, Whitney said "Torquay isn't a honeymoon", well it is if you can't afford anywhere else. Now she's pushing for the flat viewings again. She really needs to calm down, they've only been married for 5 minutes, they don't have to do every life milestone in one week. This should be one of the happiest moments in Lee's life, but instead he's drowning in depression and pressure from his family, from Whitney and from work. I feel so bad for him, there's no respite anywhere for him.

I couldn't believe it when I saw his job.
I work in a call centre and consider it to be the one of the main causes of my declining mental health. Spot on, EE. |

Whitney 90% of the time puts his feelings before her own, Lee is the one bigging up his job etc so she's under the impression he's earning enough so they both can move when in reality if he was honest Whitney would never demand that they buy a new flat.
It's understandable as newly weds she wants her own place if she knew the truth she would understand. |

I think the family believe he's got himself a job in 'sales' and is therefore instantly some sort of high rolling big shot, hence the suit, fancy mac and leather briefcase, none of which is required for call centre work! Until we saw where he is actually working, I wondered where his company car was and how come he wasn't away for a couple of weeks on a training course? The thing is, having been in sales and marketing all my working life, there's absolutely no way that I would have employed someone like Lee. He clearly has nothing going for him, and seeing Witney constantly saying how proud she is of him just gets my goat. |
