Hmmm, what's the beating that "Sully" might get nominated for Best Picture, Best Director(Eastwood) and Best Leading Actor(Hanks)?
As such, I'd imagine the only reason Sully wouldn't get nominated is if WB decide to push their other film in contention, Live By Night, instead. Live By Night trailer |

I have heard no buzz for anything regarding Love and Friendship in terms of acting so i will be surprised if it gets nominated. Kate Beckinsale isn't even a contender, an outside contender or even on the oscars radar. There isn't even a campaign for her.

Ahhh, I just thought that she might(and the screenplay) as the film got quite good critical reviews earlier in the year. You could be right, as the film doesn't seem to get talked about now.

Gold derby are saying on youtube they don't believe LaLa Land can can be caught for best picture unless it bombs at the US box office or something else unexpected happens.
Interesting to see if they're right, given we are still in November. |

Moonlight winning lots of indie awards at the moment.
Will most likely be the indie choice for BP this year. |

Greta Gerwig's supporting performance in 20th century women is gaining some buzz as an oscar contender nomination. Felicity Jones and Aja Naomi King were early contenders but seem to be losing buzz. Although Viola Davis, Naomi Harris and Nicole Kidman still seem to be dead certs to be nominated. As for the fifth spot, it doesn't seem clear although Janelle Monae's performance in Hidden Figures has been mentioned as a possible new contender.
The supporting actor field still seems unclear with still only Maharsha Ali and Michael Shannon as clear contenders. Although Lucas Hodges performance in Manchester By The Sea is slowly gaining buzz. |

National Board of Review awards have been announced.
http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/new...winners-951071 Manchester and Moonlight looking to be the ones to watch for the awards season. Amy Adams heading for a nomination at the very least. Will this be her year? |

I don't think it will be. It looks firmly to be Emma Stone walking away with that oscar.

Some reviews for Silence are appearing on Twitter (despite the embargo).
One criticising it for being about "white guys" (a mini Mark Kermode, no doubt) but most saying it's very good and quite powerful. Potentially a BP nom and director nom. |

In fairness to her, it's not like anyone (except Ian McDiarmid in small doses) was any good in the Star Wars prequels.
Portman is apparently the better performance, Stone is in the crowd pleasing movie that's being raved about. Maybe Isabelle Huppert will win to mark the 37th anniversary of Heaven's Gate. Who knows?

I hope not because I don't think she is a talented enough actress to be a double winner. When she's good she's very very good but she's done some dross too and she can turn in appalling performances when she feels like it, the Star Wars prequels and the Thor films for example.
But it wouldn't be the first mistake they have done. I mean they gave an oscar to the likes of Reese Witherspoon and Gwyneth Paltrow after all. |

I think the demise of the likes of KAT and such will affect it I guess. |

I agree. She's a very inconsistent actress. I have only ever seen her do one decent performance and that was in Closer. But most of the time. she's not that great. In fact, i didn't think she was even that good in Black Swan. If she does win a second oscar, she will be one of the worst double oscar winners in the history of oscars imo. Even if she is bloody good as Jackie Kennedy. She's no where near the level of the likes of Jodie Foster, Maggie Smith, Cate Blanchett and other actresses who have all won and deserved both their oscars.

I think that Moana might get nominated for Best Animated Feature as well. Although, I don't think that it'll be the frontrunner.

Also I have a soft spot for Jimmy Smits and he can do no wrong in my eyes
