Emma Stone has already started campaigning hard.

She's had special screenings of La La Land for critics and SAG/academy members (so hitting more than one target at once), where she's been introduced on stage by Jennifer Lawrence and Eddie Redmayne.

Everything I've read so far says she's the one to beat.
Is Emma Stone a diva?

They really should go back to the old days and not have campaigns dictate how people are nominated and win awards.

I think any actor who goes around doing what they do to win awards makes them come across desperate and slightly arrogant really. You should win it based on merit.

Mark Rylance is really the only recent exception i can think of where someone won without campaigning.

To be fair, Rylance did some campaigning but it was relatively low key. Jeff Bridges for Crazy Heart comes to mind, and I've always felt like Mickey Rourke pushing too hard is what ultimately cost him the Oscar to Sean Penn in 2009 because he came across as being desperate in the end.

Joan Crawford and Elizabeth Taylor campaigned for theirs. Betty Davis claimed Crawford slept with every Academy member to win her Oscar. John Wayne famously campaigned for his win stating it would be unpatriotic not to vote for his film. Ernest Borgnine made an unprecedented offer to send a 16-millimeter print of the movie to the home of any Academy member which earned him his Oscar for Marty.

Several people I know who've worked with her say the opposite, she's pretty okay to work with

Hmm interesting. Thanks for that

Really? She's been around for a fair few years. Although i suppose it depends on how actively you follow the movie industry and everything to do with Hollywood. I remember her as far back in Superbad in 2007. Although it wasn't really until 2010 when she did Easy A where her status as a movie star really began to increase.

Wasn't she nominated already for Birdman a couple of years ago?

Surprised Vaslav hadn't heard of her until now. She's been quite high profile for several years now.

She was great in The Help. I thought she would have been nominated for it. But the other actresses in that film were so strong and got the noms instead.

I really loved Emma Stone's performance in La La Land, really power and compelling. Gosling is very good too, but it is Stone's film.

I guess she will catapulte to the top of pay board if she does. Jennifer Lawrance is the highest paid Actress in Hollywood at the moment.

Also "Ghosts of Girlfriends Past"

I think she plays the "Marley" role, haven't seem it in an age but it's quite good even if it is Mathew Mahogany in his leaning phase.

That and "A Monster Calls" are the only two films this year to leave me in floods of tears

bib: And Mo'Nique, who won Best Supporting Actress for her role in Precious, but did next to no campaigning during awards season.

The leakers said they have all the films, but won't put them out before they're on wide release in the US, (too much heat over Hateful Eight being online before it was out anywhere apparently.)
