Emma Stone has already started campaigning hard.
She's had special screenings of La La Land for critics and SAG/academy members (so hitting more than one target at once), where she's been introduced on stage by Jennifer Lawrence and Eddie Redmayne. Everything I've read so far says she's the one to beat. |

They really should go back to the old days and not have campaigns dictate how people are nominated and win awards.
I think any actor who goes around doing what they do to win awards makes them come across desperate and slightly arrogant really. You should win it based on merit. Mark Rylance is really the only recent exception i can think of where someone won without campaigning. |

John Wayne famously campaigned for his win stating it would be unpatriotic not to vote for his film. Ernest Borgnine made an unprecedented offer to send a 16-millimeter print of the movie to the home of any Academy member which earned him his Oscar for Marty.

Joan Crawford and Elizabeth Taylor campaigned for theirs. Betty Davis claimed Crawford slept with every Academy member to win her Oscar.

Hmm interesting. Thanks for that
Really? She's been around for a fair few years. Although i suppose it depends on how actively you follow the movie industry and everything to do with Hollywood. I remember her as far back in Superbad in 2007. Although it wasn't really until 2010 when she did Easy A where her status as a movie star really began to increase. |

Wasn't she nominated already for Birdman a couple of years ago?

I really loved Emma Stone's performance in La La Land, really power and compelling. Gosling is very good too, but it is Stone's film.

I guess she will catapulte to the top of pay board if she does. Jennifer Lawrance is the highest paid Actress in Hollywood at the moment.

She was great in The Help. I thought she would have been nominated for it. But the other actresses in that film were so strong and got the noms instead.
