EE Stacey. What a wet weekend she's turned in to.
One of the most dynamic characters the shows ever had, has seemingly turned in to the new Sonia.
Her delivery of 'What about my job?' To Belinda last night was astonishing, bearing in mind what the character got up to originally. Yes I agree that happiness doesn't necessarily equal boring but in her case, sadly it has. If she was a bloke I'd say she's been neutered. Pity. Lacey Turner is far, far better than this... |

How funny I was just thinking about this this morning, Stacey is half the character she used to be. Wonder if this is how Lacey Turner likes the character?

I loved Santer era Stacey causing mayhem but I also love current Stacey who has learnt from the past and matured somewhat. She is almost 30 now. Her and Martin make a good couple. It's great that they're rebuilding the Fowlers.

It's also annoying that they're so reliant on Belinda to pay the bills but they're really rude about her. They would be on the streets if it wasn't for her!

I can see why people might not like Stacey and even Kathy being wet blankets. However, would you rather have Sam Mitchell (Daniella) and Mandy Salter and Roxy type characters that never learn, never mature, and just go round in circles?
Perhaps down the line she will have another breakdown, lose her family and home etc. If she does it will be all the more tragic. Plus, Lee is using the mental health story quota just now. |

When Stacy first appeared she was 18- so of course she was going to be more wild and unpredictable.
However if going on the run for a few years for murdering that guy that raped you, having two mental breakdowns and two kids down the line doesn't make you more mature and grown up then nothing will! I would be disappointed if Stacy had not grown at all after all of that all of that. |

Her and Louisa Lynton was amazing 10 years ago when they first came into it. Magical.
Both little minx. I thought they would turn Stacey into the next Kat Moon but they haven't pulled the trigger yet. She had that potential but now it's wasted now she's a housewife. |

It's fine that Stacey has matured, but she always looks so flaming miserable and cold. She always has her arms folded over some manky cardigan as she mopes around the square sucking the fun out of everyone with her lonesome face.
Ronnie went through a similar phase but she's much more perky these days. |

Just because she's settled down, does that make her a less interesting character?
Ten months ago Stacey was very seriously ill and, rather responsibly I think, EastEnders haven't thrown the character into another hugely dramatic story - if they did, she'd probably relapse and become ill again. I like the fact she's now got a good family unit around her. I think her time will come for a new story, probably next year now. Max is returning, remember... |

I like her a lot at the moment. She totally drained me during the post partum storyline and I think they've done a tremendous job of developing her since then. Her and Martin really have the 'it' factor as an EE couple and I look forward to seeing her growing into the matriarch role they're so obviously priming her for.

I like her like this, she's a mother now and has 'matured' I love her relationship with Martin and the dynamic she has with Rebecca. The are probably my favourite family atm.

I like how she is right now but she does need a good storyline again. Not an affair or something stupid like she's done a million times already. It would be good to see something happen to Martin and she has to support him for a change.
I also don't see the coldness or misery that others do, I think she seems happier than she ever has before on the show. When she was supposedly happy with Bradley back in the day she was a miserable bitch but with Martin she actually seems into him as a partner not just a random bloke she's staying with until another comes along. |

For me, Stacey is one of the few characters that they've actually got right since her return.
She's grown up a lot since she was a teenager on the square, and I was dreading her return as I thought it might be like when Kat came back and they undid all of the development that the character had before she originally left with Alfie. She was a caricature of Kat and nothing more. But with stacey we have a young woman who has learned from her mistakes and has grown up and is now trying to run a family Home. She has a great relationship with Rebecca alongside her own daughter and I think she's one of the best developed characters on the show. |

I disagree, I think Stacey and Martin are a great pair and work together, I like how they have built a new family unit around them. I loved the loud, feisty Stacey but I appreciate how they have progressed and developed the character rather than just keeping her the same because it was well received. Lacey is fantastic at acting dramatic material such as the postpartum psychosis SL but its nice to see Stacey living a more settled and happy, it adds more to the character and gives dramatic stories much more impact IMO>

I guess it won't be long before she drops her knickers for another random, probably breaking up another relationship in the process. It's a pity Martin in being made to be another sop to the 'all-knowing-spiky-woman', as is usual in soaps.

I was literally thinking of starting a thread like this. the settled family life doesn't ring true for this troubled character imo.

I'm loving Stacey. The way they have handled her return has been amazing. She is now in a string family unit and that's great. She's still young though (27) so she will still have big stories in her time but for now she's settled and that's great I love her and Martin together. Max's return will no doubt bring her into a bigger story plus Lauren and Abbie and her will sure gave some big scenes coming up. Remember Stacey was the one who kept her faith in Max believing he was innocent.
