Yes, if it wasn't based on fact, I would have thought the trial was totally absurd.
Is there no such thing as disclosure in Scottish law ? How could he suddenly claim to have been in a relationship with her if there was no evidence to prove it ? Why was there no rebuttal, the prosecution could surely just have asked him for the times and dates when they were supposed to have been together ?
Mind you, having read the facts of the case, it''s going to get even more ridiculous. Sometimes the truth in these cases is even crazier than anything a writer could imagine.
