Can anyone confirm if there are big consequences if you kill a lot of people?

Like the city full of rats and everyone having the plague?

I enjoyed the original but didn't like that aspect of it (even as the game is very stealthy)
I thought it was quite good that your actions had consequences, it was a major aspect of the game.

From what I hear, D2 is the same.

High Chaos ratings cause more infestations, more enemies, enemies to be more aggressive etc.

If you kill a lot of people, then there are more guards to kill. In a way it rewards your style of play.

I'm up to mission 5 now and i've got to say, im really enjoying it! I'm happy to see IGN have finally give it a score (9.3 - Amazing). It's easily one of my favorite games released this year. The design, scope and variety of the levels is awesome! The powers also are really good, while not making you feel too over-powered and the story is keeping me interested. If I had to rate the game, I would give it a 9. The game currently has an overall critic score of 91 on Metacritic.

What level of difficulty are the players here playing on? I'm playing on normal myself.

Oh that explains why there's so many guards etc everywhere!

I'm loving the game but I'm slightly miffed that I did the first level (and possibly part of the second) in a manner that resulted in a high chaos status and despite considerable efforts to be non-lethal from level 3 onwards I'm still classed at high chaos - I would have thought my average should have taken me into low chaos by now but apparently not.

I'm playing on Hard. It's pretty brutal but far more rewarding than playing the easier difficulties.

I am really struggling to like this game. I really enjoyed the first one, and I am a big fan of stealth game generally, but for some reason I am really not feeling it.
I wonder if it is because when Dishonoured came out it was quite diffferent and there hadn't really been anything like it before. I got this feeling a bit when I played Borderlands 2. I'm not overly thrilled with the graphics either, and it seems I am forever watching cutscenes, which is a personal hate of mine.
I am playing as corvo, and although I am trying not to kill people and to not be spotted, which seems an impossibilty, it isn't fun.
It doesn't have the same charms as the first one, it seems a bit play, rinse, repeat.

I'm similar, struggling to stay interested. I don't mind the graphics but for some reason it's not grabbing me. I enjoyed it to start with but I'm finding it a little bit boring and samey.

The developers are apparently working on a new game+ mode that will be patched in soon. For me such a feature should have been available from day one but better late than never I guess.

I'm starting mission 6 now have to say it's an amazing game, clockwork mansion was some best level design I've ever seen. Are you playing on a harder difficulty ? I've ranked in 8 and half hours playing as Emily, collecting everything and doing all side missions on medium difficulty.

I'm playing on the hardest difficulty, yeah. I do that with all games, the tougher the better for me. As you can imagine, i'm a huge Dark Souls fan. I will play Final Fantasy XV on Hard too when it's released.

I never played the first one but this has intrigued me as it sounds like something a bit different in an increasingly cookie cutter industry.

However, I'm still not exactly sure as to what it is! Is first-person stealth action the best way of describing it? Or is it more like an RPG? I'm looking to add a game to my Christmas list and torn between this, Watch Dogs 2 and ROTTR.

I think the best part of the game is the exploration. The levels are so dense with interest and very very well built.

You can explore in like a ghost avoiding any contact, or you stealthily take everyone out by either rending then unconscious or killing them, or go at it like crazy death dealing psycho.

There is a light but very enjoyable RPG side with various powers to learn. The powers nearly all have game changing consequences to your play style. There is also a simple but fun crafting mechanic. Both of these give you things to look for that make the exploration all the more worthwhile.

Is anyone playing it with no magical powers? I find it rather difficult and regret it, the clockwork mansion was a pain.

I will play through it again with Corvo and powers this time and try to go for no kills
