It is a massive global event after all.
I think some scenes should be written in to the soaps where characters pass some comment on it or something. We could even have Ken in Corrie watching the news from his hospital bed.
It seems silly that soaps live in their own little bubble where global political affairs don't affect them.

It's an important political event but EE, the soap most likely to insert topical scenes, won't really be able to have any characters express a viewpoint on it so it would be a bit "What's the point?" He's such a divisive figure that anybody who comments on it would have a strong opinion but they wouldn't be able to show that so it would be a bit unrealistic.

It's not going to affect your life in the slightest.

Amazing how many people have suddenly turned in to US political experts today

The normalisation and acceptance of hate rhetoric in one of the most powerful countries in the world isn't going to have the slightest effect outside of America? Oh, okay...

Considering the US is the most powerful country in the world, I think it is going to effect the UK.

Why not? 'Lee, son, I know things look grim at the moment. Your bird wants a home you can't afford because your new jobs pony, and you can't tell her, your Tom and Dick of your life and you don't like yourself, but you could be living in America.'

Not to mention the fact the world will teeter on the brink of war

Yep, with him and Putin as two of the most powerful people in the world, I am genuinely frightened about what we're building up to.

Well just be thankful you don't live in either country. I am genuinely scared of what is going to happen here.

No. We are talking about British soaps here, not American.
Let them mention it in their own.

I'm not, but then again you don't have Trump as your leader

The US soaps would never mention them. They don't mention politics or world events. They didn't even mention 9/11 when it happened.

Me too and I would definitely prefer that this doesn't intrude on my fantasy world. The news is bad enough.

What Ken needs most now is rest if he's going to get better.
