EE: Kat and Alfie question?
Are they supposed to return or something?
Does anyone even want them to return? I know that they are doing their Redwater spinoff and I believe they are waiting to see whether it will be successful or not but I think even if it isn't successful neither of them will return, they both seemed bored and sort of fed up when they left I doubt they would return. I was such a huge fan of old Kat, but now when I think about her and Alfie again it doesn't interest me for some reason. I don't know what it is. I guess I just want to know if there are any old Kat fans that aren't really that interested in seeing her come back. |

This question seems to come up every couple of weeks, and the short answer is we don't know. Redwater is supposed to come out next year, and their exit obviously set it up. We don't even know how it will air - we assume BBC One, but will it replace Eastenders? Will it simply be on afterwards? Or be on Wednesdays? Or will it be on BBC Three?
However, it also apparently didn't do very well with the focus group (I only heard this on here, so have no real source), so whether or not it is delayed again, who knows? Until the first series of Redwater, we won't know what will happen with Kat and Alfie. They've hinted at the possibility of doing future series, but will it leave them open to pop back on the main show for guest stints? Can Alfie even return with his tumour? Kat and Alfie have been hit and miss, with the latter almost universally hated on DS - I don't actually mind Alfie but I can see why he's hated. I think Kat still has a place in Albert Square and I think the general consensus is that Kat should return or make appearances after Redwater (but not Alfie). |

It won't replace Eastenders, it's 6, hour long episodes and would never replace Eastenders, is still due to air early next year |

I can take them or leave them but in many ways they do feel that they now belong in a previous era.

With Belinda around I really see no place for Kat. She fills her void.

Still not convinced this redwater will ever see the light of day.
Red button or on iPlayer at best. They left about 9 months ago last so it won't make sense if this redwater will be set in current time in the new year what will they have doing for almost a year |

Nope, no plans to return, lets not remind TPTB about it. Kat is repulsive.
Thanks. |

Kat should return with her Sons including her adult Son in Ireland.
Alfie and Big Mo should be killed off. |

I love them both and would love them back as I have missed them!
However I feel that DTC ruined Alfie by making him the fire starter instead of Aleks. Chances are Kat may return but Alfie probably won't unless it's to die! |

It would be really nice if Alfie was killed on screen, graphically and painfully.
Thanks. |

Thanks. I think Kat will return, after Alfie dies from his tumour. |

I don't understand the hate for Alfie, I feel like I'm the only person who likes him! Can someone explain why he's so hated?

Shane's ego doesn't do him any favors either like Dyer. They think they are the show and no one is above them. If an actor was like that while I was in charge I'd literally axe (and maybe recast/kill off the character depending on the character). |

Personally I like him and find his silly sense of humour hilarious but I do think he's a bit of a twit at times, a loveable twit though. |

Maybe Alfie will die off screen and then Kat will return with his liver to donate to Philth.

DTC's producing it so no doubt it will be a flop.

I have loved and in many ways still do love the character of Kat and it's not that I don't want to see her back, I do but at the same time I've not missed either of them while they have been gone.
I'd like Kat back though, I'd like to see more of her & Belinda, we got a slight glance at them before Kat left, and yes you could say we got snippets of their relationship when Belinda was played by the other actress but Belinda feels very different now to that version she was kind of very snobby and up herself with a right attitude and sarcastic nature and the typical Slater gob on her, she still has a loud mouth but in my opinion this version is significantly more likeable and even from the small bit we saw her relationship with Kat is now different to how it was portrayed previously, so I'd like to see that explored if she does return. That said though I've still not missed either Kat or Alfie, I don't hate Alfie but he's a stale character, I hope if he does return they pump some new life into him. |
