Good evening!

Posting this early as I'm not about tomorrow... I'll pop back and 'bump' it later tomorrow if it drifts onto page forty eight or something...

So. Here we go. Thursday night's edition of Walford wildness. I know there's a lot of criticism out there at the moment for the state of the show, but personally I'm finding it refreshing *takes cover*

ANYWAY! (could EE mention President Trump *shivers* tonight?)

WHAT'S HAPPENING TONIGHT?

Spoiler
Jay remains under pressure to find the money that he owes to a drug dealer.

When Billy refuses to give him an advance on his wages, Jay resorts to desperate lengths to get the cash.

Meanwhile, Libby can't resist interfering in Denise's pregnancy by criticising her mum's unhealthy habits. When Kathy urges her to go easy on Denise, Libby decides to help out by preparing a healthy meal. However, she soon goes a step further by revealing that she intends to stay on the Square and help with the baby.

Elsewhere, Abi and Kathy go to audition for the Walford Players Christmas Show, but Kathy clashes with organiser Geraldine and ends up being kicked out.

Also today, Roxy asks Ronnie for a loan so that she can buy Amy a big birthday present. Ronnie refuses to offer up any cash – unless Roxy helps Amy with her homework.

Hmm, Lee's boss was in Star Wars, and also voices The Ood from Doctor Who. I knew his voice was familiar.

More of the office environment tonight, then. I'm going to dread watching what Lee goes through during the episodes where Oz appears.

Thank you for the thread, QV!

I found the other day's office scenes really hard to watch. I'm actually finding the whole Lee storyline really harrowing. I think they're doing it really well.

Same. It feels uncomfortably realistic and exactly the type of storyline EE should be tackling. But it's horrible to watch.

I agree. I think it might be a case of, for me anyway, recognising some of Lee's behaviour and troubles as that of my own. For example, the money issues - I have taken out a payday loan once before and I was lucky enough to be able to repay on time and I got out of that particular hole, but my heart sinks every time Lee receives a text from them because I know what that's like and how it contributes to your mental state.

I also think it's really hard to watch because the audience can see that, actually, Lee's family and wife are so supportive of him and love him so much, yet he can't seem to overcome his own insecurities and see that for himself. If only he told Mick and Linda about the loan, I'm sure they'd do everything they could to help him. If only he told Whitney they couldn't afford a big flat and everything, I'm sure she'd accept it and support him and contribute more. But he's promising her the world and Whitney's had a rough time of it, and she's always dreamed of being a princess, so to speak.

I really think it's the show's strongest story so far this year.
