Watching Belinda and knowing the tenous arrangements with Ben kirk/the Kennedys and Paul Robinson/various nephews/nieces in Neighbours, I feel this doesn't really reflect reality?

Mind you, people don't usually live with their parents until age 30 either

Yes. My cousin is 6 months younger than me. I moved out on my 19th birthday. My cousin moved in some months later. She had fallen out with her dad and got on better with my bitch of a mother than I did. She lived there till she met someone and moved in with him 2yrs or so.

I know a fair few ppl who have lived with their parents till around 30 or older. Sometimes it makes sense too

My cousin lived with my aunt & her family after his parents divorced, my other cousin rented a room from my uncle in his house for a while, so not as uncommon as you think.

And plenty of people still live with parents, unfortunately rents are too high for some to afford to rent, times are changing, even people with kids are having to live with parents as they can't afford to private rent or are not being housed.

I loved with my aunt and cousins when my mum died as I lived 350 miles away from my dad. I was mid way through secondary school and didn't want more upheaval. I'd always seen my dad in the holidays so carried on like that till I did my exams then moved in with him.

I've parented my sisters children both sisters, so the kids were cousins of each other and my neice and nephews. I've now got my late neices child here about to adopt her. Real life can be complicated for some families.

I've got a brother still lives with my Dad and he is in his 50s (Dad though is now in his 80s and has been a widower for over 30 years, so it's almost Dad living with him now rather than the other way round) and I know of a number of other people who still lived with parents well beyond 30.

One of my sisters friends lives with her aunt because her mum suffers mentally. However she's 7 so makes sense.

Yes indeed, when I left England & immigrated to the USA, I stayed with my Aunt for a few months till I had enough money saved to get my own place. I had other cousins that when they moved to London, they stayed with another Aunt who had a space bedroom in her home. Family!! Of course they moved into their own places too, once they got on their feet.

I know of some people thst have done it but generally only ss a. Interom measure. One example was when my Mums best friend moved a couple hundred miles due to her husbands job relocating and their eldest duaughter stayed in Teesside with her aunt for 9 months so she could finish her O levels at the same school.

I have another friend who went back to Scotland for work when about 20 lived with her aunt.

I also know a few people who have effectively been raised by their grandparents if pne of yheir parents has walked out or died and yheir remsining one needed to work away or unsocisble hours.

My cousin took in his niece when she got into trouble on the mean streets of Birmingham. Her mother was at the end of her tether.

My best friend lived with her grandparents since she was very small. Her Mum lived in the next town over with her new husband and my BFF's half-sister

Don't they? Plenty of people are out of work or are on zero hour contracts and can't afford to move out.

I intend on continuing living with my parents. Sorry if that's unfashionable.

Zero hour contracts or temping or contract work is crucial re this as you might earn well when busy but you can't rely on it if of guaranteed monthly salary with payslips you show to a mortgage provider or even landlord.

There is also a huge issue for people who get divorced ad can't afford to get somewhere new whilst supporting their ex and kids in the former marital home so move back to their parents.

I know several people in their 40s this has happened to. Divorces, unemployment or both have meant they're living back at home. It can be hard but it can also help with elderly parents, especially if widowed who have some company and help so they can stay in their own home longer.

It doesn't have to be like 'sorry' - and you'll need to be middle aged to get that reference!

I'm 28, was 'Sorry' a reference to the Ronny Corbett sitcom?

Nah I know plenty of people and not many of them lived at home past 30. Maybe just the people I socialise with I guess.

No judgement on others lifestyles

Yes.

Maybe I shouldn't have said middle aged, I was just thinking it was on when I was a kid, young teen and didn't know if it had ever been repeated for younger audiences to see to get the reference.

But then, I knew about Steptoe and Son despite it finishing when I was tiny and it not being repeated for years so.....
