They've definitely treated Finn as a bit of a comedy character over the last couple of years though. All they've given him is dressing in silly costumes, being comically annoyed with Ross, and making waspish comments. Which is actually so weird, because at the start, they used him way better - the scenes when he thought he'd been date raped, and the ones where he found his Mum, were really good. Since then, diddly squat. Until now.

Ah who knows where this is going. It's never going to be anything even vaguely normal with Crazy Homicidal Momma around, is it? ”

Yes, I'm just relieved he is actually having something to do that resembles a story and not just the comedy plotline of the week.

Finn has certainly had a few standout moments, it's why I care about the character and want more for him to do.

Emma is around to make sure everything is absolutely not normal. That's for sure.
Did you see how much she enjoyed ringing some old friends to find Kasim?!

Everything Emma does is awesomely odd. She could make making a cheese sandwich borderline threatening.

I agree.
I'm kinding of hoping she gets to stick around, she's never boring and makes everything interesting.

Unfortunately I can't see her lasting much longer, she isn't popular enough with the viewers to no get a proper punishment. Plus I have a feeling that she will kill again, maybe Finns new boyfriend...

You mean when he refuses to get married after only a month? it would be interesting if he did see her on the bridge though.

I bet Finn invites him round for Christmas and he sees Emma for the first time....

I hope Finn and Kasim develop into something more. Finn may be too obsessive and clingy at this point, but he isn't doing it malicously and I believe once he realises he is going overboard he will make sure to slow things down. His head is just a mess over James.

Spoiler
I read that Emma gets on with him, and insists fairly quickly that he is part of the family.

It all sounds too good to be true though, she will probably be plotting something. Wait until Kasim hears about the Barton family history though, he may run a mile when he learns that he's living with a murderer and two would be murderers.

Imagine them pulling the Christmas crackers over the table.

"This is me brother, Pete, he left me other brother, Ross, for dead, and he dealt drugs, and he kissed me aunty, but other than that he's OK, and this is Ross, yeah, he dangled Pete off a bridge, that was after he tried to get him to top himself, and that was after he shagged his fiancee, and this is me Mum, she's tried to kill most people, one time or another. Sprouts?"

Then Finn bends down to pick up the carrot he dropped, hears a door slam, and looks up to find Kasim is nowhere to be seen.

The whole thing is ridiculous. It just so happens Kasim IS gay, IS single and does fancy Finn. What are the chances!
Also going by spoilers he makes a miraculous recovery. Hes up and about round Finns place in a weeks time, but he was in a coma for over a month!

Just out of curiosity, how would this work in real life? How do hospitals go about finding someone's next of kin?

And if they cannot find anyone, but this young man just appears and says he's his boyfriend, are they allowed to give out information?

(Of course I'm aware that all this is happening in ED to facilitate the story of Kasim and Finn, so it doesn't really matter what would happen in real life. But it occurred to me that I have no idea how this is normally done).

They would look at any documents/artifacts that the victim was carrying - driving licence, credit cards, membership cards, Tesco card etc etc, and his mobile of course. They would have the registration number of his van too and could trace that. There would be a problem, however, were he to be in the country illegally and using false papers, though the vehicle registration would still give a lead.

I really didn't think the whole Finn/Kasim thing was weird, until Finn started saying they were going out.

If I had saved someone's life and they had no one to visit them in hospital, I'd probably pop by to see them. Not saying I'd sit by their bedside at often as Finn seemed to, but I get where he was coming from.

Now he's gone slightly Annie Wilkes.

They're a shambles, but they look great in suits.

Luckily Emma is mad enough, Ross is charismatic enough, and Finn is cute enough to keep them very watchable.

Its a shame that Emma will likely have to leave within the next year. I wonder how the 3 brothers will do on there own, I still think they should bring in Nana Barton to sort them all out.

However security conscious they are they still must rely on an element of trust in these situations. They don't t check visitor I'd and even if they did there' s no way if finding out whether this is someone the patient would want to see. How would they trace next of kin, I wonder? Is that in your GP notes, which I think hospitals can instantly access these days?

Given that this was a major road traffic incident in which the police were involved - I'd have thought the responsibility to identify the victims/injured would fall to the police.

He has a lot of hair.

No seriously, he seems nice. Presumably when he realises Finn has been pretending to be his boyfriend, he may want to back away fairly quickly.

Have to say, Finn looks petrified at the prospect of potential romance.

I agree with every word you say. He seems a nice lad, very friendly. Finn has had this big romance in his mind for so long and all of a sudden it looks like it might become a reality and I don't think he really knows how to handle it.
