The pacing of the story is the least of its worries

Its a ridiculous plot for a start!

After weeks of nothing bar Finn talking to a comatose Kasim - we've suddenly been given a week where their behaviour & dialogue has reached "relationship" level

Add to that - ED's social media sites promoting the hell out of this pairing - even to the point of asking social media whether they want to see them as a couple.

It leads me to the question - is this just the show trying to piggyback on the m/m shipping fandom that they have already captured with the fanfiction Robron pairing by intruducing a 2nd gay coupling in the hope that they might develop a 2nd "voting fanbase" for the show to capitalise on come voting-time for soap awards.

At the moment - there seems little genuine or honest or authentic about the way this storyline has been developed - some of the dialogue between them was so "twee" it could have come straight out of a teenage romance novel

Anyhoo - spoilers suggest that
Spoiler

Clearly his lack of backstory i.e - it appears he dropped out of the sky and has no connections of life beyond the crash - has been left open ended so that the show can drop the character or develop him as they see fit.

Maybe all of you who want to see Kasim stick around should start an appreciation thread - set up some tumblr fan pages and constantly tweet the show about how much you "love" them
Was it written by that Maxine Alderton who writes all that awful Robert+Aaron tripe?

The woman who is literally paid to write her own fan fiction, maybe they should let me write episodes for Ross?

I just find the whole idea of a character being a blank slate, who is able and wiiling to relocate to the village in the name of the love, at a moment's notice, to be really silly. They did it with Ronnie and now Kasim. Does Kasim really have NO ties - no friends who who would help him, if his family have cut him off. He's very healthy and happy for someone who appears to be friendless, in pain and has been in a coma for several weeks. Nice to see someone so resilientMany if us would-be lying in a darkened room for weeks but Kasim' s happily bunked up in a B&B in a strange place, starting a new relationship, and probably working in the pub, cafe, garage or shop before long. He's s clearly a glass half-full kinda guy
We're only just properly meeting him really so I guess we'll learn more about him as we go on but we did learn that he's estranged from his family (he mentioned not being in contact with them) and a cheating ex, so there's stuff they could look into as well as his budding relationship with Finn.

Ahhh I love Kasim's hair

Nice to see them both again last night. I was shocked when they were saying about being boyfriends, this relationship has moved pretty fast and feels quite intense already.

Bedroom wise, it's nice they are being patient with each other. Hopefully Finn starts to relax and feel less awkward. It'll be nice to see them both having fun together and if we learn more about Kasim too, he's still a bit of a mystery so far.

I assume Kasim is spending Christmas with Finn? I haven't read any spoilers, so I'm just guessing.

His hair is awesome. It deserves a credit of its own. And a trailer.

Saw the pics of his body and thought emmerdale will definitely be trying to have him shirtless at some point like they did with Andy.

I agree! We should start a campaign to get his hair the recognition it deserves!

Kasim should get his own shampoo advert. He could be the new face of Head & Shoulders.

No, screw that, give him his own reality show - the Great British Hair Off.

Imagine the hair envy some of the less well-endowed male cast members must feel about that barnet. It's beautiful.

Disappointing that there seems to be a lack of detailed and realistic backstory for Kasim's character and as someone else has said, strange how he swans into the village and can stay at the expensive B and B for weeks on end.
And the script is awkward in terms of his sudden mood changes but yet at the same time the character does not really have any depth or expressiveness.
Some have commented on the lack of chemistry between Kassim and Finn. I think this is the script's fault as I don't think the actor Ethan Kai is bad in the role.
I wonder if the character is meant to be a new long term regular? Will there be a storyline involving his estranged family.?

I agree. Asking him to go to a New Year's Eve party with him is fine but booking a surprise trip to Australia is definitely not at such an early stage in their relationship. Now that Kasim has dumped Finn I wonder if he'll stick around. I thought he might have been brought into ED because he remembered seeing Emma on the bridge.

Kasim will be back, I.m sure, but the whole Finn obsession is ridiculous. Where did his money come from for that trip to Oz? He doesn't work (the taxi firm is a joke, and none of the bros were working on NYE, the busiest night of the year....)

I read that we are yet to see Finn in the taxi as Joe has only recently passed his driving test!

Shouldn't be an issue, if he had a provisional license and they keep filming to private roads. I remember the Taggart actress Blythe Duff saying she only had a provisional licence but they then filmed her driving on public roadsDon' t know how they got around that one

Did he inherit some from his dad perhaps?

Despite good performances by Finn and Kasim, the story didn't work out. Was it the writing or production at fault perhaps?

Hoping Kasim will be back. Otherwise that storyline seems pointless.

Finn's creepy mother wouldn't have helped by being over the top enthusiastic with his boyfriend. It wouldn't surprise me if that was one of the reasons why Kasim ended it.

I hope to never see Kasim again, frankly

I don't think Finn himself did anything wrong, after the sex Kasim got all moody with everything Finn said and generally was no longer interested. Emma interfering wouldn't have helped but all the blame was placed at Finn's feet without even a conversation about it.

Not in the least Kasim's sudden issue with Fimn being too interested yet he upped and moved to the village to be with him.
Reeks of inconsistencies and I hope Kasim finds put about Emma and then legs it or dies. Not interested anymore.

This seems another perfect example of an Emmerdale inconsistency and general rubbish story line. Finn creepily stalks and watches over an unconscious Kasim and when Kasim finds out despite some reasonable reservations he decides to move to Finn's village, even living in the B&B so he could be there immediately.

Then on realising that Finn is very keen ( didn't the stalking and creepy watching over him whilst unconscious give a hint towards this ) he then decides to end the whole relationship. Even if they had taken it more slowly what was Kasim going to do exactly considering he lives in the B&B Finn works at and in the tiny village Finn lives in and doesn't seem to have any job, family or activities of his own?

Personally I think Finn and Kasim are the most cringiest couple ever. They look totally embarrassed to be together but to be fair that is hardly surprising considering the load of old rubbish they have been given to act out.
